Our newest Malware Team member, Jeffce [external image: Posted Image], was to meet up with our esteemed Administrator - tashi [external image: Posted Image]. They were to meet at 9:05 pm. The appointed time was set by tashi so as not to interfere with NCIS. :D

Jeffce, being a somewhat nervous newbie, in order to assure that he wouldn't keep tashi waiting - intended to arrive at 9:00 pm. However… he knew his watch was incorrect. He believed it to be 5 minutes fast… but it was actually 5 minutes slow.

tashi - who intended to be punctual… also knew her watch was incorrect. She believed it to be 5 minutes slow… but it was 5 minutes fast.


Who got to the meeting place first… and how long did they wait for the other party to arrive?

I take that to mean tashi intended on being at the meeting right on 9:05

jeffce showed up at 9:05 according to his watch which was 5 min slow so that would be 9:00

tashi showed up at 9:00 according to her watch which was 5 min fast so that would be 8:55

tashi was first and had to wait 5 min for jeffce

Jeffce intended to there at 9:00 pm he would make the correction to his belief and arrive at 9:05 pm by his watch, his watch however being 5 minutes slow would make the time of arrival actually be 9:10 pm. Tashi aiming to be there at 9:05 pm would arrive there at 9:00 pm by her watch since she thinks its five minutes slow, her watch however being 5 minutes fast would make the time of arrival actually be 8:55 pm. So Tashi arrived first and waited fifteen minutes on jeffce. Good job oldman960 i think you made a slip though.

Hi otisx, I think you are right. Don't know why I went that way with the time. The truth is tashi showed up first. However she only waited a few second because she felt if it wasn't important enough for jeffce to show up on time (remember her staus) then it wasn't worth her time to meet with him so she left. Bottom line jeffce is still waiting for tashi to show up.

If we were only taking their watches into consideration… otisx would be correct. oldman960 is on the right track taking other information into consideration. Neither of you have dealt with the fact that tashi set the appointed time to occur after NCIS aired. Everybody knows that not even a hurricane would dislodge tashi from in front of her set until Leroy Jethro Gibbs has signed off. Give 5 minutes for "afterglow"… and tashi wouldn't be to the meeting before 9:05 no matter what her watch said. Also, though an Admin… tashi is a benevolent dictator and would wait the 5 minutes for Jeffce to show up. The first item of business would be Jeff's tardiness… but she would wait the 5 minutes. Not six… but five. :P
