Hi Satchfan, The problem that remains is still the same I had at the very beginning which is when I use Google Chrome, I should be able to use the address bar as a regular Google search bar. However, whenever I type in the address bar, I get redirected to searchqu.com and then int.search-results.com (e.g : I type in the word "computer" and get redirected to the following link "http://int.search-re...rb:o=100000049"). What else should I do ?

Hi Felix

There is no sign of Searchqu on your machine and we’ve flushed the DNS cache so I’m not sure why this is happening.

I don’t use Chrome but I believe there is an option to change settings on the address bar so that’s worth a try.

On the address bar place the cursor after the last number or word and right click. Choose: Edit search engines and choose Google.

Felix

Try this:• click on Customize and control Google Chrome icon (looks like a wrench} and select Options
• choose Basic Options. Change Google Chrome homepage to google.com or any other and click the Manage search engines... button
• select Google from the list and make it your default search engine
select Web Search from the list remove it by clicking the "X" to the right of it.
See this

If that doesn't work, as Firefox is OK and the problem only remains with Chrome, I would suggest that reinstalling Google Chrome would be the easiest option.

Let me know how it goes

Hi Satchfan, Thanks so much for your help. I tried what you said and it's working perfectly ! What do you suggest me to do ? Do I have to remove all the tools I installed (OTL, Combofix, etc...) ? Thanks again for your precious help. Felix

Great news. Well done

We'll just do a final online scan to be sure that all is as it seems before cleaning up.

Run ESET Online Scan

Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.

ESET OnlineScan 1. Click the Eset online Scanner button.
2. For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)

• Click on esetinstaller.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
• Double click on the Eset installer icon on your desktop.

3. Check Yes, I accept the Terms of Use
4. Click the Start button.
5. Accept any security warnings from your browser.
6. Check Scan archives
7. Push the Start button.
8. ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
9. When the scan completes, push List of found threats
10. Push Export to Text file and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
Note - when ESET doesn't find any threats, no report will be created.
11. Push the back button.
12. Push Finish
If a log has been produced post it in your next reply.

Eset Scanner doesn't get through step 3 and stops at 53% after about 3 hours. The last target is "Microsoft Office 2007 Pro. Plus FR {Windows 2003, XP _ Vista}.iso The current scan result states : No threats found. Please tell me what I should do. Thanks.

Don't know why it should be stalling at that.

Download CKScanner by askey127 from here & save it to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick CKScanner.exe then click Search For Files
  • When the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File
  • A message box will verify the file saved
  • Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop then copy/paste the contents in your next reply

Hi Felix

Try running Eset again.

If it stalls on the same file, do the following: • open the NOD32 Control Center
• click NOD32 in the left column
• click Run NOD32 (Run on-demand scanner) and then click the Setup tab
• under the Setup tab, click the Extensions button. The Extensions editor window will be displayed
• in the list, click on iso, then Remove
• click OK.
• click the Scanning Log tab, and then click Scan and Clean.

If NOD32 is installed in the default directory it should be C:\Program Files\Eset\NOD32.exe

Felix

If you are having a problem, let's try another scan. :)

Run AVPTool by Kaspersky

Please click here to download AVP Tool by Kaspersky.
  • save it to your desktop.
  • reboot your computer into SafeMode.

You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears.
Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter
    .

  • double click the setup file to run it.
  • click Next to continue.
  • it will by default install it to your desktop folder. Click Next.
  • hit OK at the prompt for scanning in Safe Mode.
  • it will then open a box. There will be a tab that says Automatic scan.
  • under Automatic scan make sure these are checked.

  • System Memory
  • Startup Objects
  • Disk Boot Sectors.
  • My Computer.
  • Also any other drives (Removable that you may have)

After that click on Security level then choose Customize then click on the tab that says Heuristic Analyzer then choose Enable Deep rootkit search then choose ok.
Then choose OK again then you are back to the main screen.
  • then click on Scan at the to right hand corner.
  • it will automatically neutralize any objects found.
  • if some objects are left un-neutralized then click the button that says Neutralize all
  • if it says it Cannot be Neutralized then choose the Delete option when prompted.
  • after that is done, click on the reports button at the bottom and save it with the file name Kas.
  • save it somewhere convenient like your desktop and just post only the detected Virus\malware in the report - it will be at the very top under Detected. Post those results in your next reply.

Note: This tool will self-uninstall when you close it so please save the log before closing it.

Run Security Check

Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
