When I logged onto windows, a program called ParetoLogic, DriverCure, had apparently installed itself and was very persistant. I googled it and eventually was lead here. I ran Hijack this. This is the 2nd time i am posting this same problem as when I did before, a tech auto response appeared. I had run an old version of HJThis. So….I also was able to delete Driver Cure from my control panel. However, I am not sure that I did everything corect. Can you please evaluate? Thanx.

Uhoh… LDTate, I am getting a message that says …the setup files are corupted. Obtain a new copy of the program. (mbamsetup.exe)
Please do the following to see if it resolves the issue: Post back and let us know please

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
  • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
  • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Repeating my post was an error on my part. Sorry. so to back up . You first instructed to try the scan anyway (mbam) so I just did and it has finished. There are 30 infectons.
Lets try this then

  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please Please copy / paste the scan reults.

DDS.txt
I ran the scan how do I post the results. There are 30 infections. all the boxes are checked and I am not sure if thewere checked automatically or if it happened as I attempted to highlight to copy and paste( which would not work). Also should I put up my firewall now?
Infections from what scan? MalwareBytes?

OMG….I'm sorry, when the scan finished it said 30 registry keys infected. Or something like that. BUT…I think I screwed things up now because I didnt see the instruction to uncheck certain items… so everything was checked and I hit remove all and it did…so I ran the scan again,(do u want to kill me yet???) and it found nothing. So I see now, though, that everything I removed is in quarantine. All of the items are HKEY..so i was lucky, there were none to uncheck first. Here are the results. Please evaluate and advise. Also do I need to change settings again? Thank you so much. I have one more question though. I installed firefox on this laptop. Do I need to go through this again? And….. I just renewed Registry Mechanic. It is on 99% of the time. ( I stopped it a couple of times when the pc was working slow.) I guess I wasted my moey. I know u can't give any comment about Reg Mech….but can u recommend any program I should maybe buy? You have been a great help.
