hi there, realy dont know if this is one for you or not, but could realy do with some help. switched on the comp this morning, seemed to take ages for it to boot up. once loaded, clicked on to my account, (there are 3) typed in my password, and got this:- The User Profile Service servicefailed the logon………………….User profile cannot be loaded. tried a few times, got the same thing. So i went in one of the other accounts, and done a system restore to the 19th jan (comp was fine yesterday afternoon…………..though my brother went on it later, and dont know if he done anything, but wouldn't think so). rebooted and logged on to my account. When the desktop came up……………….nothing there but blank icons, and had this message:- C\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is not accessable access denied. my son used a remote program and looked into my comp from where he was working. dont know what he done, phoned me to try and logon once it rebooted. logged onto my account. when the desktop opened up, had lost nearly all my icons (shortcuts) opened msn to talk to him. When i was typing, the font looked like using a pen, and the ink was running out( only way i can describe it). when i tried to go into my files, it kept freezing up . so i logged off. tried to logon again, but just keep getting, :- The User Profile Service servicefailed the logon………………….User profile cannot be loaded. can you help? or is this one for a shop repair!
run these programs from one of the accounts that you can log onto

Please download DDS from either of these links

and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds to run the tool.
  • When done, two DDS.txt's will open.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. It will be a randomly named executable.
  • Double click the exe file.
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan.

    [external image: Posted Image]
Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Ensure the following are unchecked
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries
do you have access to another computer that you can download them too and transfer over via USB

if not try tapping into Safe Mode with networking and see if you can download in safe mode

To Enter Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY repeatedly,
  • this will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to Safemode with networking
  • Then press the Enter Key on your Keyboard
  • go into your usual account
my son seems to have fixed the problem. i did try to download in safe mode, but still only got the blank page. have tried from here as well(am now logged on and using my accout) but still only get the blank page when using your links. would still like you to give the comp a look over.
run TFC to clear all your temp files and java cache

Download TFC to your desktop
Mirror
  • Close any open windows.
  • Double click the TFC icon to run the program
  • TFC will close all open programs itself in order to run,
  • Click the Start button to begin the process.
  • Allow TFC to run uninterrupted.
  • The program should not take long to finish it's job
  • Once its finished it should automatically reboot your machine,
  • if it doesn't, manually reboot to ensure a complete clean
It's normal after running TFC cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

what browser(s) are you using?

do you get blank pages in all browsers?
Hi

reset your IE to default settings

To use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature from Control Panel, follow these steps:

1. Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).
2. If you use Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
inetcpl.cpl
If you use Windows Vista, click Start Start button
. Type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER:
inetcpl.cpl
The Internet Options dialog box appears.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.
5. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.
6. Start Internet Explorer again.

see if that helps

you may need to create a new user profile as the old one may be corrupt

if you are able, you might try downloading another browser on another computer, and install it

try Firefox

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Reset Internet Explorer settings. done that. everything seems to be working ok on here……………………………..except trying you links, still only get the blank page on all of them. went to an old forum of mine on here, all the links there work ok.
that woked fine,
here is the D.D.S. report,

Hi,

Please do the following

Refer to the ComboFix User's Guide

  • Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

    Link 1
    Link 2

    * IMPORTANT !!! Place ComboFix.exe on your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.

You can get help on disabling your protection programs here
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

    ———————————————————————————————
  • Ensure your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications are re-enabled.

    ———————————————————————————————
ok, done this last night.
after the reboot, i couldn't open IE, got an error message about a registery key that is marked for removal. I also saved a copy of how to use combofix (in word ) on my desktop, had the same message about that, and couldn't open it.
so i closed down the comp.

restarted this morning, all seems ok, just quite slow.

here's the log.

Hi

The error message you received is quite common, and yes, a reboot takes care of it.

Please do the following:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <– very important
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
