Hello, I am new at this so please be kind. I noticed today(all of the sudden) when I search from my address bar like usual, it is very slow. When it does finally search, if I click one of the results, it re-directs to some random page. Not the right page. CPU and network is moving very slow. PLEASE HELP!

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:
1. These tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe) every time you run them
2. With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

I suggest you do this:

XP Users

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Vista Users

To enable the viewing of hidden and protected system files in Windows Vista please follow these steps:

Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Click on the Start button. This is the small round button with the Windows flag in the lower left corner.

Click on the Control Panel menu option.
When the control panel opens you can either be in Classic View or Control Panel Home view:

If you are in the Classic View do the following:
Double-click on the Folder Options icon.
Click on the View tab.

If you are in the Control Panel Home view do the following:

Click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
Click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

I was not able to do any of the above yet Right now my computer keeps going in circles. I am using my cell to type this. I tried it in safe mode three times. After the windows screen it goes to a blue screen that says "fatal system error. Windows must shut doswn".
I have to get to work.
I'll be back late tonite.

If you find your XP CD do this.

Note To start the computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM, you must configure the basic input/output system (BIOS) of the computer to start from your CD-ROM.

To run the Recovery Console from the Windows XP startup disks or the Windows XP CD-ROM, follow these steps:
Insert the Windows XP startup disk into the floppy disk drive, or insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD drive, and then restart the computer.

Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.
When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
At the command prompt, type the appropriate commands to diagnose and repair your Windows XP installation.

At the windows prompt type in: Fixboot and tap enter key
Type in Exit and try to reboot normal.

If that doesn't work, go through the same steps but use: FIXMBR and tap enter key
Type in Exit and try to reboot normal.
Ok I found it. It is asking if I want to restore to out of the box condition or delete all data from the hard drive. I assume it should be recover to out of the box state. Will I lose all of my documents and pics?

Yes, you will lose everything if you do that.

You do not have a MS Windows CD. That is from the Toshiba OEM.

Do you know anyone who has a MS Windows OS that is the same version you're using that you could borrow?
If you can't get your hands on one, try this:
A good alternative is the live Linux Puppy CD which can boot from the machine's Optical Drive even if the machine's Windows operating system fails to boot.

Linux Puppy has easily recognized utilities to find and save your user data/documents/files/media etc, and can save to CD or to External HD.

Here's a link: http://puppylinux.org/main/Overview%20and%…g%20Started.htm

Read the information on that page carefully to learn how to use Puppy. You will probably find exactly what you presently need.
I think that's all you'll need.

My wives CPU is running xp media as well, but also bundled cd. I will try puppy and keep you posted. Thank you.

I have no idea why Micrsoft allows Bundled OEM OS.
I understand that you might need the drivers from the manufactor but that could be on a seperate CD.
The OS should be the same as the original MS OS.
