My desktop malfunctioned yesterday and went to blue screen then shut off. It turned back on without a problem, but was glitching. I.e. Mozilla firefox and Internet Explorer close automatically, searching on google will sometimes take me to an ad site, and the sound device hardware will shut off and keeps needing to be re-installed. That's just the things I've encountered. I can't imagine what else is wrong with it. ESET NOD32 found nothing, Malwarebytes found 12 items, most of which were Trojan.Hiloti, infecting igesasp.dll and rogue antivirus bots. Mozilla and IE keep crashing so I have no idea how to upload to this site using the desktop. I am currently using my laptop. Please, someone, help.
Hi,

:welcome:

My name is NoodleTech. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
As I'm still in training at What The Tech, all my posts needs to be checked by an expert first. This may cause a delay, but I will do my best to keep it as short as possible.
Hi MercuryEnigma,

Since you can't access your browsers on the infected computer, we will need to use your laptop to download tools and also to post to this thread.

You are going to need a removable storage device (flash drive or external hard drive).

First, plug the removable drive into your clean computer (the laptop).

We are going to run Flash Disinfector on the laptop to immunize the flash drive and prevent malicious software from spreading when you plug the drive into the infected computer.

Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from HERE and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder…it will help protect your drives from future infection.

===================================================

Now we will need to download a few tools, save them to the flash drive, and transfer them to the infected computer.

Please download the following tools by clicking the links below:
Now open Notepad and paste the following into the textbox and save the text file as custom.txt:

Next, save the 3 downloaded tools and custom.txt to your flash drive.

===================================================

Remove the flash drive from your laptop and plug it into the infected computer. Copy all the files to the desktop.

We will need to run the tools one by one.
  • Double click on the OTL icon to run OTL. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Open the custom.txt file we created in notepad.
  • Paste the contents of the notepad file into the Custom Scan box in OTL.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please save these notepad files to your flash drive. You will need to post these in your next reply.
  • You may need two posts to fit them both in.
===================================================

Next, we will need to run Rootkit Unhooker.

  • Double-click on RKUnhookerLE.exe to run it.
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan.
  • Check (Tick) Drivers and Stealth
  • Uncheck the rest. then click OK
  • When prompted to Select Disks for Scan, make sure C:\ is checked and click OK
  • Wait till the scanner has finished and then click File > Save Report.
  • Save the report to your flash drive. Click Close.
  • You will need to post the report in your next reply.

Note** you may get the following warning, just click OK and continue.

"Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!
It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

===================================================

Now we will run MBRCheck.
  • Be sure to disable your security programs
  • Double click on MBRcheck.exe to run it (Vista and Windows 7 users will have to confirm the UAC prompt)
  • A window will open on your desktop
  • if an unknown bootcode is found you will have further options available to you, at this time press N then press Enter twice.
  • If nothing unusual is found just press Enter
  • A .txt file named MBRCheck_mm.dd.yy_hh.mm.ss should appear on your desktop.
  • Please copy that file to your flash drive. You will need to post it in your next reply.
===================================================

After running the scans and saving the log files to your flash drive, we need to save one last log to the flash drive (the MalwareBytes log).

Please browse to C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs, and copy the log onto the removable drive. It looks something like this mbam-log-x-x-xxxx (09-51-48).txt where the x's replresent the month, date and year you ran the MalwareBytes scan.

Remove the drive from the infected computer and plug it into your laptop.

Post the following logs in your next reply (you may need to post more than once to fit everything):
  • MalwareBytes log
  • OTL log
  • Rootkit Unhooker log
  • MBRCheck log
Thank you so much for helping me, NoodleTech!

I attempted to run flash_disinfector.exe on my laptop, an ACER ASPIRE 1551-4755, and it didn't seem to work. It would give me no prompt or messages as it did on my desktop computer. However, as you may see, since last time, whatever cleaning up I did, has made me able to use Mozilla Firefox; and it is no longer crashing. The sound device is no longer crashing too; knock on wood. However the computer is still infected and it keeps trying to access this site, which is being blocked by AVAST!:

cikh71ynks66.com/V75nWfa2CHwgfOdVFgLJABqtYKI6KqkA==

Once in a while, when the desktop loads, either in safemode or not, it will not load explorer.exe and I cannot manually run it through Task Manager. Also, the computer will not shut down and restart through the Start Menu.

When I ran Malwarebytes, it found 19 files, most of which were related to a HKEY reg trojan. I repaired/removed them, it needed to restart, and it attempted to. It would try to start Windows and would just go back to the first AMD screen, as if being restarted again.

As per requested, here are the logs.

It is vitally important that combofix is renamed before it has even started to download

Please download ComboFix from Link 1or Link 2 to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

  • If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
    -Tools->Options->Main tab
    -Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".
  • During the download, before you save it to your desktop, rename Combofix to jgh.exe

  • It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
  • Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix

———————————————————–

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

    ———————————————————–

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe (jgh.exe in your case) & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Please post back with
  • combofix log
How is the computer?

Thanks
I ran DeFogger without a problem. I got up to, "Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware." with the jgh.exe/combofix.exe, after it installed the recovery tool. It said it wouldn't tale more than 10 minutes, but I let it run for 3 hours in normal mode. Then stopped it, switched over to safemode with networking and let it run for another 3 hours. I'm going to let it run all night, but it doesnt seem to be doing anything.
"Scanning for infected files… This typically doesn't take more than 10 minutes However, scan times for badly infected machines may easily double" This time, I deleted the jgh and reinstalled it from LINK 2 on your post. It wouldn't even load in regular mode. I Booted in safe mode, and disabled AdAware. Avast wasn't showing in the task bar down below, but it detected it. So i opened AVAST and disabled it "until I restart", but it still saw it as running in another error message, and I chose to ignore it and continue. It then told me a more current version of ComboFix was available, but I chose not to download. It searched a bit, but when it got the autoscan blue DOS screen, and the above quoted message, it didn't progress from there; just like last time.
Hi MercuryEnigma,

In the future, please don't use code boxes for your replies.

Lets try a few things.

Please go to: VirusTotal
  • [external image: Posted Image]
  • Click the Browse button and search for the following file: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\aevo.sys
  • Click Open
  • Then click Send File
  • Please be patient while the file is scanned.
  • Once the scan results appear, please provide them in your next reply.
If it says already scanned – click "reanalyze now"

Repeat the process for this file as well: C:\WINDOWS\Ejuzaki.dat

Please post the results in your next reply.
