My computer freezes i can not interfere

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop and since 3 days i have some problems. Especially when i open live messenger and click connect it freezes. Before it freezes i see the hard disk light stays constant however sometimes it makes a sound like we heard years ago when we were connecting internet by phone line. Is it a hard disk problem,ram or virus , i dont know and i have nod32 antivirus system and didnt have a problem since 2 years. i m writing down hijcakthis log file. I am looking forward to have your assistance

I wanted to add another information. When my laptop freezes i turn off it from power button .As i turn on it again and let it to do disk checking , performs 1st stage without any problem but on 2nd stage it can not complete verifying index ( stops at %27 ). Checking hdd can not be completed. I skip disk check and when desktop appears it gives an warning (error) rigt down side where all toolbars appears. something like C:/documents and settings/………………(i couldnt catch what was written here, it was about mozilla) `sessionstore.js` can not be read … I wanted to add this information and still looking forward to hear a solution from any of you. i am disappointed about this site. Years ago when i had the membership it was different now i see people changed. Since 72 hours , nobody is interested to help me. Thats is embrassing situation for this kind of internet site and community. Thanks forum gods , thanks friends …

We look for post with 0 replies, so when you posted to your own log, we assumed you were being helped.

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

My computer is okay when i m surfing on internet maximum 1 and half hour.. After a while as i said before with a sound (like `biiip`) it freezes and each time i restart it by power button. i cant log in on msn messenger, when i click on `log in` at once it freezes. After restart, before it opens windows i let it to do disk scan but 2nd stage it cant be completed it freezes on %27 percent… My hijackthis log is down . Thanks for your interest.

If it keeps freezing, my guess is it's a hardware / software issue and not an infection

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:
1. These tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe) every time you run them
2. With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

I suggest you do this:

XP Users

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Vista Users

To enable the viewing of hidden and protected system files in Windows Vista please follow these steps:

Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Click on the Start button. This is the small round button with the Windows flag in the lower left corner.

Click on the Control Panel menu option.
When the control panel opens you can either be in Classic View or Control Panel Home view:

If you are in the Classic View do the following:
Double-click on the Folder Options icon.
Click on the View tab.


If you are in the Control Panel Home view do the following:

Click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
Click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.



Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

If you use Firefox browser

Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.


It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.


  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

  • Then click Remove Selected .
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.


Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

i completed processes what you told me above except last step scanning with Malwarebytes . Laptop freezes again after 1 minutes and 35 seconds ( on the patch C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vbscript.dll) i tried it 3 times but all my attemps were vain. As you wrote above, it is probably about hardware…

Actually i know mail.ru but i dont remember about guardmail.ru. Probably when i downloaded mail.ru messenger, it came together. I m not sure.

That was the only strange thing I see in your log. I suggest you start a new topin in our Hardware Forum and see if you can get some Tech help.
