I have a Toshiba Satellite with a problem I cant solve without help. During boot up of my children's user name, a Think Point "scanner" initiates without prompting. So far I have run OTL Highjackthis, MBAM and a virus scan called CA Security Suite from Time Warner Cable. Please help with anything you can.

Here are the Logs

Every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life are based on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving.
Hello and Posted Image

My name is patndoris. I will be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. It will be very helpful if you follow these guidelines:
  • Malware logs are often lengthy and can take a lot of time to research and interpret. Please be patient while I review your logs.
  • Please note that there is no "Quick Fix" to modern malware infections and we may need to use several different approaches to get your system clean.
  • Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
  • Please follow my instructions carefully and in the order they are posted. You may also find it helpful to print out the instructions you receive.
  • Please do not run any scans or install/uninstall any applications or delete anything without being directed to do so.
  • Remember, absence of symptoms does not mean the infection is all gone. Please stick with me till you're given the "all clear".
  • Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
  • Please reply within 3 days. If I do not hear back from you in that time frame, I will post a reminder for you. Topics with no reply in 4 days are closed!
Please be advised I am still in training, and all of my replies to you will be checked for accuracy by one of our experts to ensure that I am giving you the best possible advice.
This may cause a delay in response time, but I will do my best to keep it as short as possible.

I will post back shortly with instructions.
P2P - I see you have P2P software ( µTorrent ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It likely contributed to your current situation. This page will give you further information.
Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.
Please see this topic for more information:
Perils of P2P File Sharing.
I would strongly recommend that you uninstall these now. You can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

If you choose to leave them on the machine, please refrain from using them while we are cleaning the machine to prevent further infection.

It would appear that you have more than one anti-virus solution on your machine. I can see both CA Internet Security Suite and Symantec (Norton) installed. Having more than one anti-virus program on your machine, even if only one is running, can cause conflicts and slowdowns in the performance of the machine. Before continuing on, please completely uninstall one of the programs. The easiest way to do this is to visit one of these pages and use one of the removal tools listed below:
CA Uninstall Tool
Norton Removal Tool

Note: CA is currently providing your personal firewall. If you choose to remove CA you should, at a minimum, enable the Windows Firewall. If you choose to remove Symantec (Norton) you do not have to worry about this as CA will still be your firewall.

If you are not prompted to do so please reboot your computer before continuing on.

The easiest way to remove the Norton Security Scan is to use the Norton Security Scan Removal Tool.

If you are not prompted to do so, please reboot after you have uninstalled it.

I see you have Malwarebytes already on your machine. Please run it by double clicking the icon on the desktop.
  • Click on the tab labeled Update and then click on the button Check for updates. Allow it to check for and apply any updates.
  • Select the Scanner tab, and Perform Quick Scan
  • [external image: Posted Image]
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.
Please post the log in your next reply.

ESET Online Scanner
I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET Online Scan

Note: It is recommended to disable on-board anti-virus program and anti-spyware programs while performing scans so there are no conflicts and it will speed up scan time.
Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once the scan is finished remember to re-enable your anti-virus along with your anti-spyware programs.

  • Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    • Click on [external image: Posted Image] to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the [external image: Posted Image] icon on your desktop.
  • Check [external image: Posted Image]
  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check [external image: Posted Image]
  • Make sure that the option "Remove found threats" is Unchecked
  • Push the Start button.
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin
scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, push [external image: Posted Image]
  • Push [external image: Posted Image], and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as
ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Push the [external image: Posted Image] button.
  • Push [external image: Posted Image]

I'd also like to get a fresh OTL log from you please:
OTL Custom Scan

  • Double click on the OTL icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Click on Minimal Output at the top
  • Download the following file scan.txt to your Desktop. Click here to download it. You may need to right click on it and select "Save"
  • Double click inside the Custom Scan box at the bottom
  • A window will appear saying "Click Ok to load a custom scan from a file or Cancel to cancel"
  • Click the Ok button and navigate to the file scan.txt which we just saved to your desktop
  • Select scan.txt and click Open. Writing will now appear under the Custom Scan box
  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open ONE notepad windows. OTL.Txt. This is saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of this file in your topic

Can you please tell me how your machine is running now?
