Hello there,

Multiple AntiVirus Running

I see you have more than one Anti-Virus program installed, ( Panda ) and ( Symantec ).

While this may seem like greater protection, it can cause problems including slowdowns, system hangs or even crashes. This can happen if both AntiVirus applications attempt to access the same file at the same time. This may cause the applications to interfere with each other, or cause the system to lock up. It can also be a drain on system resources, making a machine run slower than it should.

Any antivirus program must be removed via add/remove program.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:

Re-install the program -> Reboot -> Uninstall

If you choose to uninstall Norton, also do this:

http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgen…005033108162039

Click on a link which describes the version you are using and follow the instructions.

Hello Yes please…. We (wife and I) got to checking the post this evening. We are working through your instructions (even ran into some issues there getting the box to play nice on startup). Got McAffee uninstalled as well as MSWORKS. Where McAffee came from is puzzling. we just got through the first scan. Scanning the second instruction you sent right now. OTL file attached. Thank you for your assistance. :D:)

Hello so, here's the results. Scan #2 you requested runs for a very long time and then the PC hangs up. We've tried that run twice over a 5 hour period. Scan # 3 is attached. Standing by. Thank you

Hi,

I want you to try running RKU again but first disable your Panda before proceeding.

Disable Panda Internet Security Suite
Please navigate to the system tray on the bottom right hand corner and look for a sign that looks like a Pandabear head.
  • Right click it-> select "Close automatic protection.".
  • A message will pop up and warn you about disabling the protection. Choose "Yes."
  • The above sign in the systemtray will now disapear.
  • You successfully disabled the Panda Internet Security Guard.

If you still couldn't get it run, then reboot into Safe Mode and try again.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
Tutorial if you need it How to boot into Safemode
Hi, the file was too big 593k I edited the files into two smaller pieces part 1 and part 2. There will be two post replies. :) thanks (oddly enough, the two seperate files are far less than 593. Note: I used Excel to split the files 799 lines in the first, 800 to 1947. Then I saved them off as txt files again ) I sure hope I did this right…. let me know if the two don't add up. Thank you
