0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
One of the many processes or threads crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. As a result, the system can no longer function. Specific causes are many, and often best resolved by a careful history of the problem and the circumstances of the error message. One user, who experienced this on return from Standby mode on Win XP SP2, found the cause was that Windows was installed on a slave drive; compare KB 330100.
Have you ran HD diagnostics yet? If not then try this:
Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.
NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, unfortunately, you're out of luck, because Toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic tool.
Thanks for letting me know it is a laptop.
While the same difficulties can arise in a laptop that arise in a tower-case, some can be ruled out.
For instance,
It is unlikely that you have changed or compromised the Hard Drive Cable. So we can move past that one for now.
You also haven't changed the HD designation to Slave (if you had it wouldn't boot at all)
CMOS Battery can be difficult to get to.
If you haven't had any instances of DATE/Time loss/change, then let's move past that one for now.
______________
More likely are:
HD file structure corruption/failing Hard Drive
RAM memory failure
Driver corruption.
I'm also suspicious (now) of HEAT.
Since this is a 3-4 year old Laptop, it may have accumulated sufficient dust/lint/debris to choke the air circulation related to the cooling elements of the CPU and GPU.
There is no "definitive" indication of "air-circulation problem" because your fan is probably running, and at least a little bit of air is being exhausted from the proper place. Unfortunately, that does not guarantee that the exhausted air has actually "cooled" the CPU/GPU chips.
Let's see if we can get a Temperature Report.
Will you please download and run Everest 2.20 (free)
It will give you a read-out of Temperatures and voltages which could be useful information to us in diagnosing the present situation.
Download Everest 2.20 here for free: http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
After download, Select to Run Everest 2.20
Then in the Everest 2.20 panel, Navigate to - Computer - Sensors
Create a Quick Report in Plain Text
Include the Quick Report - Sensors in your next reply.
While you are doing that, I will develop additional comments regarding Hard Drive, RAM, and Drivers
lol Ended up cancelling that DFT advanced test after seeing your next response. Anyway, here is the readings/report.
