Will you please download and run Everest 2.20 (free)
It will give you a read-out of Temperatures and voltages which could be useful information to us in diagnosing the present situation.
Yes, Everest 2.20 is a discontinued (old) version of this system inventory tool, but is still useful in providing hardware information.
For your system, we are interested in: voltages, fan speeds, and temperatures.
I just checked the download at MajorGeeks which worked just fine from the link I provided above.
Or it is also available at filehippo.com and dozens of less common mirror sites.
You state that your machine "suddenly" began functioning "slower".
By your statement, you ruled out recent downloads as a potential cause.
Likely causes of this kind of problem include:
Malware infection
New software, application software failed installation or conflict
Too many applications and processes running from Start Menu and/or in background
New Hardware conflict
Driver corruption
Missing or corrupted operating system files
Hard Drive too full (not sufficient Free Space)
Hard Drive imminent failure (bad physical sectors)
Memory (RAM) failure
HEAT caused by fan-failure, airflow blockage(dust bunnies), TIM failure
Failing capacitors (bulge/leak)
loose-failing connectors to Mobo and components
Power Supply Failure
Because HEAT can be a root cause of many of the above, and can cause permanent damage, and is often easily reversible, I'm suggesting that you first determine if a HEAT problem exists before advancing to investigate any of the other listed problem sources.
Ran the Speedfan. These were the readings
Win9x:NO 64Bit:NO GiveIO:YES SpeedFan:YES
I/O properly initialized
Linked ISA BUS at $0290
Linked Intel 82801FB ICH6 SMBUS at $E8A0
Scanning ISA BUS at $0290…
Scanning Intel SMBus at $E8A0…
Found ST380013AS on AdvSMART
End of detection
Which of course means absolutely nothing to me. Is there some other info I should be looking for?
Select the "Readings" (tab)
View the reported Fan RPM's
View the reported Temperatures
View the reported voltages.
Copy the information (pencil and paper) then post it in your next reply.
Option: take a screen shot and upload as attached file.
What I posted last was all that it says on the Reading Tab…nothing says Fan RPM's, temps or voltages. Not sure what I am supposed to do to get the readings you are asking for.
Here's a screen shot of when SpeedFan initially boots.
It displays an additional panel for information.
"Close" that panel, and the FanRPM, Temps, and Voltage should be displayed underneath.

HD0 is your primary active Hard Drive /or Partition (contains your Master Boot Record and your C:\ complete with the operating system)
55°C is too hot for a Hard Drive and can indicate problems, including likely heat problems in other components that may not have physical sensors fro Temperatures.
We'll need a whole lot more information about your machine to proceed.
Plus, I would prefer to get the Sensors Report from Everest, as it will provide comparison and maybe additional information.
Give it another try to download install Everest 2.20
Allow Everest to run
Select Computer
Select Sensors
Use the File command at the top to save Sensors Report as Plain Text.

Next, let's gather a bunch of information all at once…
Please Run the PCPitstop.com OverDrive Full Tests
Here's how:
You must use your Internet Explorer for this procedure. (doesn't work so well in Firefox or others)
Go to: http://www.pcpitstop.com
Click on "Free Computer Check-up" listed below PC Pitstop OverDrive
In the User Login - Click on "Sign up FREE!"
You'll need to submit a valid email address and create your own password, then click - Create Account(button)
Now enter your email address and password to Log in, Select - Scan this system Now!(button)
You will then be asked to download an ActiveX component and allow it to install.
It is safe and does not compromise your privacy.
Follow the on-screen prompts to install the ActiveX and to allow the Full Tests to be run on your machine.
The Full Tests take about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes on most machines.
When complete, a Results - Summary - Recommended Fixes will be displayed.
Please post the URL internet address from your Results, back here into this Topic Thread so that we can review the configuration and present performance levels of your machine.
Note: During the graphics 2D and graphics 3D testing, your screen will display some rapidly moving objects.
If you are sensitive to visual flashing, it may cause dizziness. Therefore, look away from the screen during that portion of the testing.
After reviewing the results we will be more informed and may be able to provide better recommendations for you to work towards improving your machine's performance.
Well, if that is the case then "more than likely" you are dealing with a browser hijack and/or other malware infection. ( in addition to any hardware/system issues that may exist)
First order of business, at this time, is to post over into our Infections Removal Forum.
