HTTP error 12029

The computer is a Fujitsu Stylistis ST4000 running windows XP, tablet pc edition, 2005, with service pack 3. Try to use IE and it doesn't open, run diagnostics and it says to check firewall because of port problem-port blocking rule, turn turn the firewall off and now it says HTTP error 12029……. I don't know how to get this into safe mode to run any scans……….Please help…..

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:
1. These tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe) every time you run them
2. With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

I suggest you do this:

Download HijackThis .

• Save HijackThis.exe to your desktop.
• Doubleclick on the HijackThis.exe icon on your desktop.
• By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
• Click on Install.
• It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
• Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
• Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
• Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
• DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
• DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I don't have a thumb drive, I guess I need to get one………..

I need some more info that you have. What anti-virus program? What Firewall?

I take it you don't have the computer with you. You need to have with you or this could take days to try and fix. So once you have it, let me know.

LDTate, Lets look at it this way, I'm an IDIOT, I know alittle about computers, just enough to get me in trouble because I think I know what I am doing. I downloaded hijack this and it's sitting in a folder, not opened yet. I don't know how to get it from the folder to the thumb drive. I'm sorry I'm so slow at this, but I really do need your help…..

update, I loaded the hijack program onto the thumb drive, and now I'll install it into the tablet and run the scan….
