Hello i am new to this forum and would gladly appreciate all of your help. :D

Firstly, i would say that i have virus in my computer . I tried various antivirus, malware, spyware tools but besides spyware doctor, the rest of the tools could not identify or find the virus that spyware doctor found.

spyware doctor found 3 trojan, 8 worm.mevon.a and 1 exploit host file location redirect.

Malwarebytes found a trojan that spyware doctor found and delete it.
I went to search for help and i realise people used ad-aware and spybot. so i tried adaware but it only found cookies. afterwards i tried spybot and manage to find more cookies and the 2 trojans and it removed it as well. but along the deletion of the found threats there was a zip file that the remover say that could not be opened and i just pressed ok and restart the computer. after restart there was this command.com notepad that appear during startup and i didnt know what it was. so i checked online and managed to find only one person who said that it was actually spybot who initiated the notepad , the person commented that it was due to spybot not able to delete a virus in the previous virus removal but i am really unsure about this. should i rescan my computer again?

I found out from spybot that the trojan was actually megaupload toolbar which i compared the trojan registry with spyware doctor. After spybot removal, i did a scan with spyware doctor and the trojan wasn't there anymore. but the worm.mevon.a was still there. I realised too that the numbers eg. hkey_users s1-5- were similar to the trojan and it should be remnant froms megaupload toolbar but i still dont know how to thoroughly clean my com of this. Can anybody give me some help? thanks!📎Capture122.jpg
Hello and :welcome:

I will be helping you on removing malwares on your computer. Log research takes time, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Do not install/uninstall anything on your computer unless advised.
  • Do not run any other scanning tools other than those instructed for you to use.
  • Follow the instructions on the order they are given.
  • Stay with this thread until advised when your computer is clean. Absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean a clean computer.
  • If you are being helped regarding this problem on another forum please advice us so that we can close this thread.
  • If you do not reply within 3 days after my last response, I will be asking you whether you still need assistance and if you still don't reply within 48 hours then the topic will be closed.
  • And lastly, if you have any questions, please ask before proceeding with any of the advised fixes.

Now for the scans:

[external image: Posted Image]
Download the GMER Rootkit Scanner. Unzip it to your Desktop.

Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
  • Double click GMER.exe.
    [external image: Posted Image]
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run a full scan…click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan..
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Ensure the following are UNCHECKED …
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
      [external image: Posted Image]
Click the image to enlarge it
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt"
  • Save the log where you can easily find it, such as your desktop.
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries

Please copy and paste the report into your Post.

  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Copy and paste the following bold text into the box under Custom Scan

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\*.sys /90
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll

Hi,

And do you mean that i have to close my anitvirus too when gmer.exe is performing its scan ?

Yes please, just for the meantime. You can re-enable it later.

If you are still having trouble running GMER, try it in safe mode.
To do this,
  • Restart your computer.
  • Keep on tapping f8 when windows starts to boot. Do this before you see the windows screen.
  • When a list of menu appears, scroll to Safe Mode using the arrow keys then press Enter.
Then run GMER again.

If that still wont' do then open GMER and click on the box beside "Files" to uncheck it then run.
Also, please post the contents of this log -> C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\defogger_disable.log

Here is good reading regarding Orbitdownloader -> link

We recommend you to disable it, and, when you want download a file, just right click and choose "Download by Orbit".

orbitnet.exe uses excessive system and memory resources with no corresponding benefit. Applications such as these should be disabled to improve overall system performance.

You have DNA, a P2P/file sharing programs installed on your computer. P2P applications like it are the largest source of malware we see. You'll be doing yourself a favor by removing it.

P2P (File Sharing ) programs form a direct conduit onto your computer, their security measures are easily circumvented, and Malware writers are increasingly exploiting them to spread their wares onto your computer. Further to that, if your P2P program is not configured correctly you may be sharing more files than you realize. There have been cases where people's Passwords, Address Books and other personal, private, and financial details have been exposed to the file sharing network by a badly configured program.

Many of the programs come bundled with other unwanted programs, but even the ones free of any bundled software are not safe to use.

This article from InfoWorld illustrates the dangers of a poorly configured P2P program.
http://www.infoworld.com/d/security-centra…-p-id-theft-103

When you use them you are downloading software from an unknown source directly onto your computer, bypassing your Firewall and Anti-Virus software. Hardly surprising then that many of these Downloads are being targeted to carry infections.

I would recommend that you uninstall DNA, via Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs.

However, if you do not wish to remove this program please be advised not to use the said program during the course of cleaning your machine.

References for the risk of these programs can be found in these links:

Hi,

Run an on-line scan with Kaspersky

Using Internet Explorer or Firefox, visit Kaspersky On-line Scanner

1. Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.
2. To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
  • Close any open programs
  • Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
3. Click Run at the Security prompt.
The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
  • Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
  • Click View scan report at the bottom.

  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
–Next–
  • Open OTL.exe.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • There will only be a single log produced. OTL.Txt.
Note:This log can be located in the OTL. folder on you C:\ drive if it fails to open automatically.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of this file and post it with your next reply.
To post in your next reply:
1. Kaspersky log.
2. OTL log.
3. How is your computer?
Hi, It's been several days. Do you still need help on this? This topic will be closed if you don't respond within 24 hours. Thank you.
I am so sorry. I am quite busy lately due to schoolwork and wasn't able to use my computer. I will post the log in another 3 days time.
Hi,

If that's the case then let's hold off Kaspersky scan for now.
