Hi Sweettech,
i am going to pull out of doing this, i am just concerned that both the Links you have for Combo -fix resulted in AVG security red box appearing reporting Mal-ware also root kits, warn of High priority threats etc, i Googled various web sites and its apparent there are many issue's with this programme such as deleting all the system's files Root-kits etc, it is for this reason i feel i should stop,
Please can you tell me if the two previous scan results i posted show any information that could effect my Internet security? i ask because i am not sure what they show ? and also as they are posted for everyone to see,
Thank-you for help help to date,
Hello,
Sorry for the delay, I'm just making my rounds on all of my threads.
We tend to see that many security programs detect ComboFix as being a virus and/or trojan, which is one of the reasons we ask that you disable your security programs first. There are some components of ComboFix that security programs detect as being malicious; however, ComboFix is a powerful tool and it's possible that the links you visited were when a user was using the tool in an unsupervised environment.
After hearing the above and you are still not comfortable with running ComboFix then we can try to use different alternative tools accomplish the same task, it just may take us a little bit longer to complete.
From what I can tell from the logs the only information that others can see is your name (Mark M), but that information could be gathered from your user name, so I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Let me know.
SweetTech.
Hello Sweet-tech,,
You say to disable all virus and spy-ware detection, i did this, i disabled ad-aware, spyware blaster, as well as resident shield in AVG, since the re-boot alot more icons have appeared in the ststems tray like Windows defender,Java, Inter Win Cinema, Quick-time player etc etc, would that not lead to my system being open/vulnerable?, i have tried to disable AVG and have tried right clicking AVG in the system tray but there doesn't seem to be a link to do it, i googled for an answer and the only thing i can find is to uncheck the resident shield in AVG., when i do uncheck the res shields there is a red x that shows on top of the AVG logo in system tray, to fully disable AVG i read you need to uninstall it. As my AVG version 9.0.869 is a paid version i initially installed it on-line direct, to reinstall it i think would be a mission, as i don't think i kept all the details etc when i purchased it, Also i did read the owner of Combo-fix has had root kits hidden inside and has had to keep updating it, any idea's?.
Marc
No more than it would if you were to leave the malware on your computer.
To disable AVG try this:
AVG
Please open the AVG Control Center program -> double-click on the "AVG Resident Shield" component (looks like this: [external image: Posted Image]) -> deselect the "Turn on AVG Resident Shield" checkmark and save the setting.
When you need to enable the AVG Resident Shield, ( I will let you know when) just open the AVG Control Center program -> double-click on the "AVG Resident Shield" component -> select the "Turn on AVG Resident Shield" checkmark and save the setting.
Also since trying to download combo-fix i have lost the sound in all live streaming, looked at the various places like Sound-Max to see if its been muted but all see "on". any ideas why?. 1 further thing, i have now read up on disabling AVG, if i do download Combo-fix when all protection is disabled and from where the download comes from includes malware will it COM-FIX show up malware that's in it own file's? lastly if i am successful and manage to get Com-fix installed should i close Internet connections?, marc

Could be related to something hiding on your machine.
if i do download Combo-fix when all protection is disabled and from where the download comes from includes malware will it COM-FIX show up malware that's in it own file's?
ComboFix will be able to show me what it has detected and anything else that may require further attention.
lastly if i am successful and manage to get Com-fix installed should i close Internet connections?, marc
You will want to leave yourself connected to the internet as it will be required to download the Recovery Console, so that in the event something goes unexpected we have a way of recovering from it.
well that's what AVG report's!, why would it report the Mal-ware detected if your links are safe? I disables AVG but says it needs a restart to initialise etc, did that and on restart a new warning box appears saying, "an App failed to initialize, says to restart, did that again (restart) and says again that 0x800106ba is not initializing something or other and to do a restart, so restarted and again the box appears saying the same thing again!!, NB' since disabling everything it takes a long time to open anything, only just got an Internet connection to work to reply etc, sorry this is turning into a headache!, also i have no protection at the moment, is it safe to leave everything unprotected, Will you be on-line for some time? just thinking of the time my PCs vulnerable, Apologies for so many questions! i did say i am a novice with PCs at the beginning lol,
what would you suggest?, does this 0x800106ba need to work before i try again and download COM-FIX?
Marc
AVG reports malware detected after i download Com-fix, i go to click on run it /open it and you get the AVG high priority threat detected box open, No i haven't tried to download Com-fix again due to this windows warning box keep opening on the restart, as i asked before about 0x800106ba failing to initialize can you think why? is it important?
Hello,
I've been able to find a couple of suggestions in regards to this issue.
Try the following:
Go to Start > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services
Please make sure that Windows Defender is set to Automatic.
If it's not then, please go ahead and reboot your computer and see if that takes care of the error message.
If that doesn't work then try uninstalling it via Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Remove Windows Defender.
