Hi i am not sure if this is in the right forum section but i need immediate assistance regarding this matter because my pc is almost unusable right now. I don't believe it has anything to do with viruses cause i have the problem for a while, some times it just happens and other times i get lucky and it doesn't. Right now its happening alot very frequently. I am referring to BSOD crashes. I will post the error report here so you can look at it.
I will say this crash happens when ever im playing video games for to long on my pc, or even just encoding or burning something it tends to happen alot. In this case i use a program called ConvertXtoDVD which is a software free ware program that enables you convert and encode video files. I don't know what the cause of these BSOD crashes are, if its drivers, hard ware, or software conflicting issues but i need some help in diagnosing this problem. Do you know of a way of using a diaognostic test to see if there is any hardware failures or anything like that. On my BSOD crash message it does state to run a diagnostic utility test. Anyway here is the message
""A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Run a system diagnostic utulity supplied by your hardware manufacturer. In particular, run a memory check, and check for faulty or mismatched memory. Try changing video adapters. Disable or remove any newly installed software. If you need to use safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your pc, press f8 to select advanced start up options, and then select safe mode.

Now i tried doing this several times and after about 3 or 4 errors of the same message. I had another BSOD crash that was s lightly different only this time when i tried to reset my pc it wouldn't even load to windows. So then i got worried thinking that these BSOD crashes are causing damage to my computer. This was the other message.

So would really appreciate it if one of the admins or tech people on this site try to help me diagnose this problem. If i have to send log files or what ever, i will, thank you very much!
No one is able to help me with this?? Did i post this in the wrong section. I need assistance as soon as your able to. The problem seems to be getting worse and worse, the more i wait. It might be my windows is corrupted or something but i don't know. I will leave it up to you to diagnose my pc. Get back with me as soon as your able to, thanks!
Most often, this kind of stop message occurs when a hardware component (RAM, CPU, or Video Adapter, motherboard) is malfunctioning.
While the actual hardware may be failing and require replacement, it is also possible that it is caused by: Heat <— open your case (use electrical and static precautions or ask if you are not familiar) - Inspect and clean out dust/debris from Heatsinks, fans, airways Overclocking <– If you have overclocked components of this machine, consider setting back to factory defaults.
To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:
* If either software or hardware can cause a particular trap, a debug is required to determine which is the cause. If you suspect a hardware problem, try the following hardware troubleshooting steps:
1. Test the RAM in the computer by running the diagnostic software that is provided by the computer manufacturer. Replace any RAM that is reported as bad. Also, make sure that all the RAM in the computer is the same speed.
2. Try removing or swapping out controllers, cards, or other peripherals.
3. Try a different motherboard on the computer.
* If you are over clocking the speed of your processor, set it back to the speed at which it is designed to run.
* Check with the hardware vendor for any updated hardware drivers or BIOS updates, or both.
Hey thanks for replying back. I am going to run the Ram diagnostic tool right now and check my computer for any errors. It is strange because i have been having these problems for a while, some times they don't happen and then they come back. I have changed my RAm out like a few months ago so its pretty knew, i don't see how i could have bad ram unless my motherboard is over heating or something and causing my RAM to get damaged. I am not sure
But i will run this test and then can back with you on the results.
Do you want me to save a log file or something of the results from my test so you can look it over or should i just tell you what it says.
No need to post back any formal report from testing your RAM, but do keep notes if you are removing and testing RAM sticks individually.
Note: "Any" error report on RAM is "too many". If you receive any error report when testing your RAM, one or more of your RAM sticks is bad and may need to be replaced.
Exception: If RAM is malfunctioning due to Heat issue, then cleaning your case and heatsinks may resolve the problem.
I am "most suspicious" of Heat, particularly because you mention that the problem most often occurs when gaming.
Gaming is one of the most intensive uses of CPU. RAM and Graphics Adapter.
Do you have a method to monitor component Temperatures?
Both are free and readily available for free download
You only need one, not both.
If you decide to install SpeedFan (sometimes found to be less accurate than Everest), then please do not attempt to use any of the modifying options of SpeedFan.
SpeedFan allows the "Advanced User" to manipulate rpm speed settings of Fans that have that capability.
Unless you are a very advanced user and already know what you doing, it is not advised to change fan speeds.
Thanks doug, after the RAM test is complete ill check my computer's temp gauges. I do use Everest actually. What particular temps should i check for, ill post here exactly what temps i have for my hardware on my computer.
Also how long does this RAM test usually take. i didn't do the extended version, just the regular version but its at like "PASS 144" now and its been going for nearly 30 hrs. So i was just wondering where abouts do you think it will be completed.
Hi Jeff Matthews,
Post each and all of the temps.
It may be useful to monitor temps at minimal resting levels and at max usage levels (e.g. gaming)
As to the RAM testing, a few cycles are sufficient.
Errors are most likely to appear even in the very first pass.
Ok i sent you quick sensor report. I'm not sure exactly if this has all temp information but let me know if there is any reports i need to send. I am not very familiar with this program that much. There is tons of different categories and reports to save on this program if there is an easier way of sending you just the sensor reports and temp gauges, let me know, thanks!
Jeff Matthews,
The Everest Quick Report that you attached appears to represent the first Computer Menu list.
It's good for overview of components but does not display temperatures.
In the left hand column tree-style menu…
Click Computer, then click the + sign to expand
Click Sensors
Click Report - Quick Report - Sensor
Save as Plain Text and post in your next reply
If i need to run games, encoding programs or anything that runs my CPU up, i can to test it and see what happens just let me know what to look for.
I want to try and find the source of the BSOD crashes and fix it as soon as i can.
Temperatures:
Motherboard 45 °C (113 °F)
CPU 57 °C (135 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #1 59 °C (138 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #2 56 °C (133 °F)
GPU Diode 81 °C (178 °F)
GPU Memory 74 °C (165 °F)
GPU Ambient 66 °C (151 °F)
Particularly if the above represent testing at a relative resting state (no heavy usage) then they are in a range of 20°-30° higher than they should be.
There may be:
A fan failing
Clogged air intake/exit
Clogged heatsink fins
failing contact between heatsink and CPU chip
Be sure that the case is located such that air intake and exit has generous unblocked space around it (not in a cabinet or against a wall)
Have you looked inside of that case to inspect for excessive fan functioning, dust/debris/airflow clogging?
Ok sorry for the late reply, i been busy. But yeah your dayam right. My computer is a dust bunny. There was so much clogged dust and even spider webs built up around the motherboard and the fans. All though it had alot of dust, i made sure all the fans were working correctly and they were, there is no fans that are failing so thats good.
The problem is, the area that my computer is in is in a room at the top story of my house which happens to be surrounded by tree's and mountains. Are house is kind of build on a mountainside so we kind of live in a dust environment unfortunately. To top it off we have pets as well that attract lots of dirt and dust. There is no way around it, the best thing i can do is clean it out every week or so. But its strange because i have another computer in the other room and its in the same type of environment as this one, only it does not build up nearly as much dust and runs WAY cooler then this computer. So i think there may be another problem with airflow in my case. I am not an expert with building computer's i know a little bit and i did build this one but i may of situated the fans in the wrong position or did not add enough intake/exhaust fans.
I took my computer outside just now and completely cleaned it out with compressed air and i took pictures of my computer showing you exactly how many fans i have and where they are. Maybe you can look through these and see if the fans are in the correct places.
My case actually only has two ventilation's, one in the front which gets clogged all the time. And then one on the right side of the case, its a small ventilation. Then of course there is some ventilation on the back of the case where the fans are.
I only have two fans not including the CPU fan or the video card fan. I have one fan situated on the side of the case. Where you take it apart at. Its blowing the air out the side of the case. It came with the case. Then i have a 3 speed fan at the back of the case blowing air out the backside.
I also took another reading of my Temp gauges right after i cleaned my computer out so i attached that also in the zip folder. I noticed also that the moment i booted up my computer, its alot quieter, i think the fan was running on a low speed and then when it gets hot, it automatically shifts into a higher speed.
Anyhow i can really use your expertise help on this in figuring out the solution to what in the hell is wrong with this machine. I have had this problem for years. I am sure the dust environment doesn't help much but like i said, i have another pc in the other room and it doesn't even come close to attracting as much dust as this thing does. There has to be another problem with this computer so if you have any advice i would appreciate it ten fold, thanks!
