DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:
1. These tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe) every time you run them
2. With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply! I just wanted to know real quick if webroot, cc cleaner or spyware blaster will conflict with the malware you are asking me to run. Also was wondering if maybe they might be conflicting with each other-works fine on my computer, but my husbands seems to drag.
Ok the Malwarebytes site shortcut that you gave me said that it was corrupt. So I went to the (Cnet site ) and and dowloaded the second Malwarebytes on the page because the first one was corrupted as well-here is where I got it from= malwarebytes downloads - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com. This is the log from that: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.45 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 3973 Windows 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18904 4/9/2010 2:57:19 PM mbam-log-2010-04-09 (14-57-19).txt Scan type: Quick scan Objects scanned: 106508 Time elapsed: 5 minute(s), 27 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 1 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel\Homepage (Hijack.Homepage) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully. Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: Ok, so then I turned off the computer like the malwarebytes said and then the computer (laptop) seemed to have a hard time turning on, it took a couple tries for it to work. Then webroot popped up and said: The internet communication shield has blocked access to 74.125.45.100 known to be related to spyware. Other than that seems to be working fine. I forgot to mention that my husband downloaded paralogic spyware which I had the hardest time removing and still pops up as- filecure did not download properly- everytime I turn on the computer. After I allready removed it with CCcleaner. That popped up as well when I turned on the computer.
Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2 If using this link, Right Click and select Save As.

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : Protective Programs

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

Notes: Combofix will run without the Recovery Console installed. Skip the Recovery Console part if you're running Vista or Windows 7.

Note: If you have SP3, use the SP2 package. If Vista or Windows 7, skip the Recovery Console part
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt using Copy / Paste in your next reply.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish if needed.

Please do not attach the scan results from Combofx. Use copy/paste.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
All I have to say about these people who create Malware is that they should be tied to an ant hill and honey should be poured over them! :pullhair:

Works greatbut when I ran webroot it states that I still have virus on there!-nothing else but that though. So thats a good start, its some kind of reproducing virus because it doesnt matter how many times I get rid of it it still comes back! we have to find the source or it will just reproduce itself!
Do this first and run another webroot scan.

The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

  • Click START run
  • Now type ComboFix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
O.K so here's what happened. I accidently ran it instead of delete it. When it ran a box popped up after it was done. On the left hand corner of the box it said internet exe.,In the box: Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. No keys worked after that so I restarted and tried again, It was probably improper use of keys on my part. Ran the scanner and Malware still on there!
It doesnt say, It always pops up everytime I sweep the computer. In the past I reloaded webroot because it said that the files were corrupt on the program, is that possible again? Is there a way to check source for Malware? Because I tried to find it before and there is no way that I see for that info even when I right click it only shows info on the virus itself and when I press view browser opens up onto grey page w/ the virus name and threat research center but no way to get rid of it or the source of threat. Actually that was one of the first things I tried.
I googled Mal/TDSSRt-A andit looks like someone else had the same problem that I had. Here is the site (Mal/TDSSRt-A and atapi.sys infection - Tech Support Guy Forums) It said it was solved but they have a different system than I-widows exp so it might not apply to me…
