THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org, click on Browse, and upload the following file for analysis:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\vma.exe

Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned, and then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

If virscan.org is too busy you can try these.

http://virscan.org/

http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus.html

http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html
The first site worked and all, but the file just wasn't there! =O and my internet plus a few other programs are still not functioning properly..
If need be, download the tools needed to a flash drive or other removable media, and transfer them to the infected computer.

Download Combofix from any of the links below but rename it to ABCD.exe before saving it to your desktop.

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Link 1
Link 2 If using this link, Right Click and select Save As.

Double click on the ABCD.exe ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt so we can continue cleaning the system.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
**Note: If Combofix (ABCD) won't run from the desktop, try running it from the USB device you will also need to skip the Windows Recovery Console download**

——————————————————————–

With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have the Windows Recovery Console pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Go to Microsoft's website => http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994

Scroll down to Step 1, and select the download that's appropriate for your Operating System. Download the file & save it as it's originally named.

Note: If you have SP3, use the SP2 package. Vista and Windows 7 users skip this part

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it.

  • Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Recovery Console.

    [external image: Posted Image]

  • At the next prompt, click 'Yes' to run the full ComboFix scan.

  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply using Copy/Paste.

Notes:

Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish if needed.

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Also please describe how your computer behaves in your next reply.
Ok since i been gone things have been kinda haywire…

BUT..norton ran by itself while i was away and it got rid of 1 of 2 threats shown..

then i was prompted to restart to get rid of the 2nd one.

OH MY GOD. my computer was running alright. but whatever you just told me to do it made it worse than it ever has been. im not sure how i got the internet to run… everytime i logon to my computer it says "explorer failed to initialise" and this (firefox) is the first program i have got to run besides task manager. also combofix did run, but stopped about halfway and prompted a reset. its been running really badly ever since. also no desktop items are shown.
Sorry I didn't do that right.
Try this:

Copy/paste the text in the Codebox below into notepad:

Here's how to do that:
Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.
This will open an empty notepad file:

Take your mouse, and place your cursor at the beginning of the text in the box below, then click and hold the left mouse button, while pulling your mouse over the text. This should highlight the text. Now release the left mouse button. Now, with the cursor over the highlighted text, right click the mouse for options, and select 'copy'. Now over the empty Notepad box, right click your mouse again, and select 'paste' and you will have copied and pasted the text.

Dequarantine::
C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\c\windows\system32\wininet.dll.vir
Quit::

Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript"

Here's how to do that:
1.Click File;
2.Click Save As… Change the directory to your desktop;
3.Change the Save as type to "All Files";
4.Type in the file name: CFScript
5.Click Save …

I probably should mention that I've been running everything from the task manager, because without explorer, there is no start bar. Also, when i run combofix, it seems fine until after it completes stage_50, it deletes a temp file \logishrd\lvprcinj01.dll, then it seems to freeze…should i just leave it there and hope something happens? or does this mean i need a new approach?
The fix ran, and i left it and checked on my computer about 40 minutes later. the computer has just restarted and it was waiting at the log-in screen with the same message: explorer failed to initialize. and a log was not produced =[ if it helps, i might be able to get hi-jack this to work because i don't have to restart computer for that to run. also just found out that no online videos work-

After i rebooted, at the login screen a window popped up still sayin 'explorer.exe failed to initialize properly'
but using task manager i can open firefox, notepad, and do a few other things. i noticed i cant watch any videos online and itunes/windows media player doesnt work currently.

Hopefully that log holds some answers..

File::
"%windir%\\system32\\drivers\\svchost.exe
c:\\Documents and Settings\\Owner\\Desktop\\ATHF-Cleaner.exe

Driver::
svchost

Registry::

Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript"

Here's how to do that:
1.Click File;
2.Click Save As… Change the directory to your desktop;
3.Change the Save as type to "All Files";
4.Type in the file name: CFScript
5.Click Save …

[external image: Posted Image]

Drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

Then post the results log using Copy / Paste

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
No good. That froze my computer for over 12 hours and I just got home from work still on the same screen. it said the file was deleted but it never closed or gave me a log. and i got super scared the internet almost didnt work when i came back on..but it just took a while to load up.. So, what is the next step? should i try to do that again and hope for better results? such disappointments…no flash player. no music. no games. how can someone live like this? i wanna throw this computer out the window.
