My homepage keeps getting hijacked & I have popups now. I have updated & run ad-aware, cwshredder, spybot search & destroy & I am currently running spysweeper. My spyware blaster won't work anymore, it says it's infected when I try & open it. Nothing seems to be getting rid of this. I also deleted the java program that cwshredder recommends & installed the new one java2 from the sun webpage?
Oh, and I also did all the updates for XP from microsoft.
I have a hijackthis log that I can post, if it would help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Download this zip.
http://tools.zerosrealm.com/pv.zip
Please unzip it to the desktop. It will not work if you run it from inside the zip.
After unzipped go to the desktop. Open the pv folder. Double click on the runme.bat
A dos window will open. Please select option 1 for explorer dll's by typing 1 and then pressing enter.
Notepad will open with a log in it. Please copy and paste the log into this post.

My apologies.
I misdiagnosed your infection.
You have a newer version of the "about:blank" infection, which requires a different (but easier) fix.
Download and install APM from: http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=apm
CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!
Run Hijack This! and fix these:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html

Run the APM program you just downloaded.
In the upper window select explorer.exe
In the lower window find and rightclick the BHO from the HijackThis log (C:\WINDOWS\System32\jpkfkff.dll)
Select Unload DLL and click OK on the prompts that follow.
Reboot and scan with AdAware.
Before you scan with AdAware, check for updates of the reference file by using the "webupdate" button at the lower right of the panel. The current ref file should read at least 01R312 30.05.2004 or a higher number/later date. Updates for this program come out frequently to keep up with new malware. THIS IS CRITICAL; updating is as important as installing these programs.
Then ……..
Make sure the following settings are made and on ——-"ON=GREEN"
From main window :Click "Start" then " Activate in-depth scan"
then……
click "Use custom scanning options>Customize" and have these options ON: "Scan within archives" ,"Scan active processes","Scan registry", "Deep scan registry" ,"Scan my IE Favorites for banned URL" and "Scan my host-files"
then………
go to settings(the gear icon on top of AdAware)>Tweak>Scanning engine and click "Unload recognized processes during scanning" ………..then…….."Cleaning engine" and "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot"
then…… click "proceed" to save your settings.
To scan, click NEXT. This scan will also take several minutes.
When the scan is finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose"select all" from the drop down menu) then press "next" and then say YES to the prompt, "do you want to remove all these entries?" Reboot again.
Post a new log file.

I'm OK until the part where I have to click on explorer.exe & then in the bottom, click on the BHO from the hijackthis log. I can't find anything called C:\WINDOWS\System32\jpkfkff.dll
There are a lot of others that start that way, but no jpkfkff.dll
Should I go on to hte next instructions?

Ok, Mindy.
We got rid of the rogue DLL, so (keep your fingers crossed), just a few fixes and we'll be done.
CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!
Fix these items with Hijack This!!:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D87CD40C-57AC-490C-A165-F342ADA613CA} - c:\windows\system32\jpkfkff.dll (file missing)
Reboot.
Post a new log file.
If all the entries with "sp.html" and "about:blank" stay gone, you should be "good to go".

OK, I did a new log, but I think the same files that I removed with hijackthis are back now. Also, the whole time I was trying to reboot & open internet explorer, the message from spysweeper kept coming up saying my homepage was changed to about blank & did I want to change it back to google!
Also, when I did have it keep it on google, it would say "thia page cannot be displayed"! The same when I tried to bring back up tomcoyote.org, it gave me an error message. So I had to go around it, through yahoo & to advanced search. It still gave me bogus results first, that would have brought me right back to the fake search page, but I did not click on them!! I'm going crazy with this computer!
Any more suggestions? (besides just taking a hammer to the CPU?? - JUST Kidding!!)

You seem to have the very latest (and greatest) infection.
Put the hammer back in the drawer (for now
).
Could you go here:
http://freeatlast.100free.com/index.html
Download FindnFix.exe (2K/XP only!) by freeatlast. Double-click on the FindnFix.exe and it will install a folder called FindnFix on your system. Go to that folder and double-click on !LOG!.bat. The program takes a few minutes to collect the necessary information. When done post the contents of Log.txt in this thread.

When I click on the !LOG Batch file, the DOS screen comes up & it starts to try to get information, and then all of a sudden I get an error messasge:
C:\FINDnFIX\log.txt is not a valid Win32 application.

When you double-click on a ".txt" file, what program does your system use to "open" the file?
In order for the program to work right, ".txt" files need to be opened with Notepad.
You can set Notepad for the default application for ".txt" files like this:
1. Find a ".txt" file on your machine.
2. Right click on it. Go to "Open with" , then "Choose program".
3. Find "Notepad" in the list of applications, and click it.
4.. Check the box next to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
5. Then click "OK"
Be sure Notepad is the default application for ".txt" files, and try the !LOG Batch file again.

OK, here it is:
