The virus has infected my antivirus software and my administrative access. I keep getting pop -ups to use fake antivirus programs and have lost some internet access. Here is a hijack this log that I was still able to run but am not sure what to fix/remove. Fake programs seem to be internet security 2010 and malware defense. If anyone can help that would be awesome.

  • Please download LSPFix from here.
  • Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
  • Check the I know what I'm doing box.

  • Select every instance of helper32.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
  • When you are done click Finish>>.

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:
1. These tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe) every time you run them
2. With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
[external image: Posted Image]
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Please don't attach the scans / logs, use "copy/paste". .

Its seems malwarebytes wont run or is going very slowly. I had malwarebytes on my computer when infected and had similar problems.

Do you see it scanning files?
No, thats the problem, every time I try to use any anti-virus software or scanning software such as malwarebyte or AVG the program just doesnt work. It acts like its going to do something but nothing happens, just a bunch of pop ups. Malwarebytes downloaded successfully and asked if I wanted to run it, so I said yes but then nothing has happened. So I tried to open the program from my desktop and still nothing. Tried to check in task manager but I am being denied that. Total bummer. Hijackthis is the only scan that works.
Did you do this? Please download LSPFix from here. Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading. Check the I know what I'm doing box. In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of helper32.dll Select every instance of helper32.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button. When you are done click Finish>>.
Yeah, there was one helper32 that I removed. I just tried downloading malwarebytes again but after installing and checking to box to run the program and clicking finish nothing has happened for the last 30 minutes.
You're infected with Netsky Virus

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : Protective Programs

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

Note: Combofix will run without the Recovery Console installed.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
"copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread as well.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish if needed.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
OK, so sorry that this is complicated, I really appreciate the help you are providing, I would be totally lost without your help. So neither link works because of the virus. Also, its getting hard for me to log into this account because of the virus I think. I have another computer but its nessecary for me to download links you have sent. Tried to google combofix but I am getting denied or attempted into downloading false programs, I think. dayam terminators.
Ran this twice, before trying to download combofix, because I kept getting messages (multiple times while exehelper ran) that told me the program could not run because of viruses. Maybe it didnt actually run and that is why I am having trouble downloading combofix? It seems that despite the messages, exehelper ran and on the first run deleted a componet of the virus? exeHelper by Raktor Build 20091220 Run at 19:31:08 on 01/18/10 Now searching… Checking for numerical processes… Checking for sysguard processes… Checking for bad processes… Checking for bad files… Deleting file C:\WINDOWS\system32\41.exe Checking for bad registry entries… Resetting filetype association for .exe Resetting filetype association for .com Resetting userinit and shell values… Resetting policies… –Finished– exeHelper by Raktor Build 20091220 Run at 19:31:59 on 01/18/10 Now searching… Checking for numerical processes… Checking for sysguard processes… Checking for bad processes… Checking for bad files… Checking for bad registry entries… Resetting filetype association for .exe Resetting filetype association for .com Resetting userinit and shell values… Resetting policies… –Finished–
Yeah, any attempt to look up or download combofix is sabotauged by the virus even when I search through google or link to it from another site. Its amazing how intelligent the virus acts, it is really annoying.
Delete the combofix you have now.

Download Combofix from any of the links below but rename it to ABCD.exe before saving it to your desktop.

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Double click on the ABCD.exe ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt so we can continue cleaning the system.
OK, will try it, but I've been working a lot lately, I will try later in the evening. Once again, thank you for all your help, this has been quite the crafty virus.
