Just about every day when I go home for the evning and then come back to work the next morning, I have a blue screen with this error message. I did do a chkdsk /r, but it didn't seem to help? Ideas?
Hi, sorry to hear of the problem with your machine.
Did you get a stop error on the blue screen?
If so we need to know it.
You have run chkdsk /r
and that was a good move….run it again just to be sure.
Have you run memtest86 to check your memory?
Have you run any other disc checking tools? (other than chkdsk /r)

Further information from here:

http://www.memtest86.com/

when running memtest, use the free download, burn it to a CD Rom as an image (iso) and let it run overnight.

Remove all peripherals, empty USB slots , optical drives, and just have a power cable video , mouse and keyboard connected (if a desktop computer)…if it's a laptop, remove the battery and run it from the power adapter, but with all slots empty and nothing else connected.

Post back with full details of machine, model number, error codes, and exactly when the problem first started and what actions you or any user of the machine had taken in the week preceding the trouble starting in respect of:

hardware added or removed,
and software added or removed..
and we will advise the next step

Hi from the link I gave you previously Click on the link on the left side "Free Download" on the page that opens it's the top one you need……http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.5.iso.zip extract the files and burn the iso to a CD as an image. then inserting the cd, close down your machine ,wait 30 seconds with a blank black sreeen then restart and boot from the CD if you can't boot from the CD then you have either not burnt it as an image (use imageburn for this…http://www.imgburn.com/) or Your BIOS is not set to boot from CD (so enter BIOS (Set uP) on startup and set boot priority to 1 CD, 2 Hard drive, save the settings and exit. or your cd burner or procedure is incorrectly set Let the memtest run for some hours, (overnight is best) Regards paws
let it run for at least 10 passes, preferably overnight. Let me know if it reports any errors. If no errors are reported this is good….but not 100% defintive! Regards paws
Thats good ..well done. Next let me have the info requested in my post No 2 ( except the Memtest stuff of course.) Did you run chkdsk /r a second time? Regards paws
Hi Thats good….. i still neded the stop code and the info requested in post 2…… also do you get the BSOD when you start in safe mode? Regards paws
