[Resolved] win32Trojan-gen help plz
38 min read
It sounds like it may be a hardware conflict, that is 2 devices trying to use the same resources.
As for as the USB ports, are you using the Safely Remove Hardware botton near the clock when disconnecting the devices?
Any chance this was in the OTL folder?Avast has done another scan and this time it has moved the Win32 Trojan gen and the HTML Script to the chest
That is nothing to worry about. Avast is simply warning you that it has found a file or archive that is heavily compressed and will open to a very large size, many times larger than the reported size. Years ago this was a concern when a "big" hard drive was 100MB. Opening a file like that could literaly fill a harddrive making the computer all most impossible to use as there wouldn't be room left to open files that are normally opened and closed in the normal operation of the computer. Today's harddrives are much larger so there isn't much danger of that happening.there is a data.big in d&s it says this is a compression bomb what is that it sounds bad.
Have a look HERE and see if anything there will help resolve the USB problem.
Check here for any hardware that may have conflicts.
Click you Start Button
- Hilight All Programs
- Hilight Accessories
- Hilight System Tools
- Click System Information
- Click the + beside Hardware Resources
- Click on Conflicts/Sharing
Let us know how you make out. We'll clean up the Restore Points and the tools after you post back.
Thanks
Not sure it just says it removed them fromthe systemvolume and likle lu lu, do you think otl allowed avast access?! as it couldnt get them before could it, i'm very happy it has.Any chance this was in the OTL folder?
theres lots of things showing up when i click that, are things allowed to share?Anything shown as conflicting?
I have attached file for you to see hope this is ok as i dont know what im looking at lol,
conflict_or_sharing.txt
Thanks Oldman
Haven't forgotten about you, just looking into the Conflict and sharing you posted.
Sharing is ok.are things allowed to share
That's why I asked if the detections where in the OTL folder. If we removed them with OTL, then Avast would be able to move them from there. Regardless they are gone now.do you think otl allowed avast access?!
Be back ASAP with further instructions. Thanks for your patience.
This looks like a software/hardware problem. The folks in the Tech forum should be able to assist you. General Hardware or Microsoft Windows
From your desktop, please delete
- any notepads/logs that we created
- SystemLook.exe
Next
Open OTL then click the Clean Up button. You may get prompted by your firewall that OTL wants to contact the internet - allow this. A cleanup.txt will be downloaded, a message dialog will ask you if you want to proceed with the cleanup process, click Yes. This will do some clean up tasks and delete some of the tools you have downloaded plus itself.
* Create a new restore point
You must be logged on to an administrator account
- Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.
- Click Create a restore point, and then click Next.
- In the text box labeled Restore Point Description, type a name for this restore point
- click create
- Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - system tools.
- Launch the Disk Cleanup tool and let it run.
- When it finishes a box with tabs will appear, select the more options tab.
- On this tab you will find a section for System Restore.
- If you press the Clean Up button for that section, Windows will delete all restore points except for the most recent one.
Some Recommendations and prevention tips
Basic security consists of 1 antivirus program, 1 resident antispyware program, 1 on demand antispyware program and a firewall. Just add a firewall.
* If you are behind a router Windows firewall should be fine. Otherwise a 3rd party firewall with outbound monitoring is recommended.
Click FIREWALL for tips, reviews and links to good, free and paid for firewalls. (Note: Zone Alarm is becoming bloatware)
-Secure your Internet Explorer
From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
- Click once on the Security tab
- Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
- Click once on the Custom Level button.
- Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
- Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
- Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
- Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
- Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
- Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
- When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
- If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
- Keeping your Windows up-to-date is crucial to your computer's security. Please go to the Windows Update Site (using Internet Explorer) and download and install all critical updates on a regular basis
- Ensure that Automatic Update is turned on so you get all the latest patches.
Click start, control panel, click Security Center.
- Keep your antivirus program updated, as well as any other security programs you have.
-Check this site out to check for out of date programs

Take care
Thankyou so much for your time,
here is the OTL
I have also thrown in a highjack this log, and the results from the Avast and my screen just incase it sheds some light on the situation, May i also tell you that about 2 days ago i installed service pk 3 but the pc started crashing again so i went to uninstall it, it did a system restore to the time before it was put on but now the screen is blue, do you think i have put the wrm in the pc through the restore? i cant put a pic on and the screen keeps going into standby, today the pc went into black screen and when it came back on there was nothing on the pc it was like it had done a full recovery on its own, i turned it off and the icons and programs came back. Also i cant use malwarebytes as it says theres no items to scan, and i tried to use the on screen keyboard but it says theres error in the registry

The other problems like the blue desktop, missing icons happened after you uninstalled SP3?2 days ago i installed service pk 3 but the pc started crashing again so i went to uninstall it, it did a system restore to the time before it was put on but now the screen is blue
Did SP3 uninstall or just run System Restore? the logs show Sp3 as installed.
There is evidence of infection. If you followed the clean up steps I gave you before all Restore points prior to the date you did the steps would have been removed.do you think i have put the wrm in the pc through the restore?
That doesn't sound good. Also i cant use malwarebytes as it says theres no items to scan, and i tried to use the on screen keyboard but it says theres error in the registry
Do you have an XP disk?
Let's get an uninstall list.
Please make an uninstall list
- Start HijackThis
- Click the Config button
- Click the Misc Tools button
- Click the Open Uninstall Manager button.
- Click the Save list button and save it to your desktop.
Thanks

System Restore isn't like a disk image, it will not put your computer back to the exact same condition it was in previously.i dont think i uninstalled sp3 i think i just restored & everything went like this when i did that, .
I did the restore to before sp3 was installed
It looks like the computer is now part SP2 and part SP3. Give me a bit of time to find the best way to recover from this.
Be back as soon as I can. Please don't make any more changes to that computer.
