[Closed] Malwarebytes will not install

I ran ENRUT and then ATF Cleaner and tried to run Malwarebytes but it would not work so I uninstalled it and downloaded it again. When I went to run it I got this: Unable to execute file: C:Program Files\Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware\mbam.exe I looked in the file folder and found this: mbamgui.exe I am confused as it appears spybot, ad-aware and even my McAfee finds nothing. Can you help me to get Malwarebytes to work so I can continue with the self help? McAfee did an update and started a full scan. After it told me (several times) to reboot and rescan then I could download and run Malwarebytes which found things such as Vundo.gen.ab and also had me reboot so it could run again. After that I ran spybot with more results and it also had me reboot and it appears all is well again.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

Please delete any HijackThis Folders and Files you have now.

Download HijackThis.


Click the "Save" button.

Please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Open HijackThis and select: Do a system scan and save a log file.

When the scan is finished, Click Edit> Select All> Edit> Copy> and paste its contents here [Add Reply].

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


1. launch Notepad (Start>All Programs>Accessories), and copy/paste all the Quoted REGEDIT below to it. Don't forget to include REGEDIT4.
Save in: Desktop
File Name: fixme.reg
Save as Type: All files
Click: Save

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""



2. Save this text as fixme.reg. Make sure the "Save as type:" is "All Files (*.*)" and save it to your desktop. Include the word REGEDIT4

3. Double-click on fixme.reg. When it asks you to merge the information to the registry click Yes.

4.Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also see if MBAM will run now.

The only reason I am repeating this is I am about to go on vacation in a few hours so it will be a while before I can figure out what you want me to do and then do it. I will be gone till after Christmas. (retirement is great)
