Hi there,
My desktop computer (Dell) recently became infected with Antivirus System Pro. It appears to have rectified itself (although I figure it's probably still there) but now I can't connect to the internet. I have a wireless router hooked up to it, and a laptop that I use in the house is working fine.
Can anybody help me out with this?
thanks very much in advance,
Heavy

Hi, welcome to the WTT Forums. My username is Raktor, and I would be glad to help you with your malware issues. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of exehelperlog.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com, and should open at the end of the scan)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).
Then please follow the instructions in our pre-post topic here and post the required logs, along with the exeHelper log.

- Finally, stay with this topic until I give you the final 'All clear' post.
Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.

1. Close any open browsers.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
Save this as "CFScript.txt", and as Type: All Files (*.*) in the same location as ComboFix.exe
[external image: Posted Image]
Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply. Also, please let me know if you are still experiencing any issues (please also ensure Internet Explorer is working

Heavy
Raktor,
I perform the above steps when I get home from work today.
Just wanted to give you a heads up - my internet connection began to work again a few steps ago, but after I ran the anti-malware scan and ESET scan it crashed again and I've been getting tons of Anti-Virus System Pro pop-ups and warnings.
Will this affect the steps going forward?
thanks,
Heavy
Raktor
We might have to back pedal a bit, but we'll get there.
Post the contents from C:\Combofix.txt - that should be the results of the latest Combofix scan we just did.
Re-run exeHelper, and post that log too.

Raktor,
I try to drag the CFScript.txt onto the ComboFix icon and it gives me the message:
"Windows Security alert - Application cannot be executed. The file heavy.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"
it gives me the same message when trying to run exeHelper.
I have since unplugged my cable so I stop getting those dayam pop-ups.
Do I have to go back even further?
thanks,
Heavy
Raktor
Try downloading exeHelper from here and try that.
Heavy
No luck……tells me it 'cannot be executed - explore.exe is infected.'
