Applications are blocked soon after turning on the computer. I tried to run your software before the malware pop-ups start. I ran ERUNT, Rootrepeal, and dds.scr. ERUNT ran and backed up the reistery. Rootrepeal also made a log, but I do not want to risk copying the text file to a healthy computer. DDS started up, but "The batch file cannot be found" I went to a website with no antivirus software running. A piece of malware calling itself Antivirus System PRO" seems to have installed itself on my computer. I did not download or install anything that I am aware of. The virus keeps popping up error messages, fake system warnings, IE porn sites, and other pop ups I am not familiar with that are always on top and when I close them more pop up. I have photographs of the error messages that I can post. The bug does not let me run .exe or .com programs after about 10 seconds. Is there any way for me to run your apps and fixes?
Hello and :welcome: Please be advised, as I am still in training, all my replies to you will be checked for accuracy by one of our experts to ensure that I am giving you the best possible advise. This may cause a delay, but I will do my best to keep it as short as possible. I am checking over your log , I will post back shortly with instructions.
Hi,

Please do the following from a clean computer. The one that you are using to connect to the internet.

Download exeHelper to your desktop.
It is already renamed as explorer.exe

NOTE: Do not run it yet.

–Next–

As we will be transferring files from one computer to the other, please do the following:

NOTE: Make sure your flash drive is connected to the clean computer when doing these steps.

Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from HERE and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder…it will help protect your drives from future infection.

–Next–

Copy explorer.exe from your desktop to your flash drive or burn it to a CD/DVD RW then plug your flash drive or mount your CD/DVD RW to the infected machine then again copy it there, preferably to the infected computer's desktop.

–Next–

Double-click on exeHelper.com (explorer.exe) to run the fix from the infected computer.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

–Next–

Try DDS again please. Then please copy the images you captured regarding the error messages into your flash drive or CD/DVD RW including the RootRepeal log and the DDS logs then post those in your next reply. Thank you.

To post in your next reply:
1. DDS logs.
2. RootRepeal log.
3. Can you please tell me more about your computer problems?
I could not download flash disinfector from the link you provided. http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/s…Disinfector.exe
It did not load.
I then downloaded flash_disinfector.exe from different source,
http://experi3nc3.wordpress.com/2007/05/10…fector-by-subs/
Which I found on this thread
http://forums.whatthetech.com/How_to_t105648.html
This file seemed to run normaly but in fact killed my portable flash drive. It was not recognised on several computers.

Then I started my infected computer. For some reason there were no malware pop-ups this time. I could not read from or write to cds or flash drives. Also, I could not connect to the internet. So I could not run exe helper. I could however run dds and did get the attach.txt and dds.txt log files. I saved the log txt files to my infected desktop. Sadly there is no way to copy the text short of writing by hand.
Hi,

Glad that you've found another site to download flash disinfector. One reason for not being recognized by some computer is that it may have been infected or damaged.

Let's try these steps:
  • Right click on My Computer.
  • Choose Manage from the menu.
  • Double click on Storage in the right window pane.
  • Double click on Disk Management(Local) in the right window pane.
  • Find the USB device you have installed and right click.
  • Choose Change Drive Letter and Paths from the menu.
  • Click the Change button and pick a drive letter that is not in use (S and R are good choices).
  • Click OK and exit the Disk Management program.
If the above steps still does not work for your flash drive, try rebooting the computer with the flashdrive inserted.

Copy DDS, RootRepeal logs and the error images you've saved into your flash drive.

Post back here on how it goes.
Sadly the USB stick is not even showing up in the disk management window. All I can see is the Volume C and a partition put in by my manufacturer for backups. (This is a separate clean computer) It looks like the flash drive is dead, but thanks for trying :-( I found that my antivirus was actively blocking my attempt to copy files onto the computer. This time I was able to run exe helper. I now have 4 log files on my computer: DDS.txt Attach.txt exehelper.txt rootrepeal.txt But still no way to get the logs off the computer, short of typing them.
Hi,

Sorry to hear that. :(

Can you borrow a flash drive from a friend or relative perhaps? If so, please do the steps again regarding Flash Disinfector on a clean computer.

–Next–

Copy and paste the logs to the flash drive then have them posted in your next reply please, also what browser are you using in the infected machine (opera, firefox, IE…)? Thank you.

Also, can you please take a look at the DDS log and see if there's something like these in it?
uInternet Settings,ProxyServer = http=localhost:7171
uInternet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;
I'm having trouble finding another flash drive. Is there any other way? (I borrowed the last one from a friend and you know what happened to that one) The only line with an occurance of "uInternet" in DDS.txt is uInternet Connextion Wizard,ShellNext = hxxp://www.dell4me.com/mywaybiz I was using IE most of the time on the infected computer
Hi,

Are you using Outlook Express for your email? Maybe we could find a way to use that to email the logs if it's just a problem of proxy.

Let's try a different route, can you boot up to Safe Mode with Networking?
  • Restart your computer.
  • Keep on tapping f8 when windows starts to boot. Do this before you see the windows screen.
  • When a list of menu appears, scroll to Safe Mode with Networking using the arrow keys then press Enter.
Once logged on please try to connect to the internet.

Additional questions:
1. When using IE, are there any error messages that pops up? If so, can you please post what those are?
2. Do you have any other browsers installed such as Firefox or Opera?
I was able to get the infected computer online. Here, finally, are the log files! :-) I mostly use gmail, but sometimes juno. Firefox and opera are both installed but I hardly ever use them. Hi,

  • Download OTL to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Copy/paste the following text written inside of the code box into the Custom Scans/Fixes box located at the bottom of OTL

    :OTL
    PRC - C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe (Microsoft Corporation)

    :Reg
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "tyvcnrxp"=-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "tyvcnrxp"=-

    :Files
    c:\documents and settings\nancy sullivan\local settings\application data\innqxo

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
–Next–

Next
  • Double click on OTL.exe to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Copy and paste the following bold text into the box under Custom Scan

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of the OTL.txt and post it with your next reply along with the OTL fix log.
Everything worked. Here are the logs.
