hi guys, i cant seem to sign on to my pc in normal mode , it started a couple of weeks ago when my son was play his world of warcraft , it stopped the game then loads of pink lines came down the screen and it would reboot, then it started to happen more and more and now it crashes even when im watching a movie, or even just when i try and log on to pc, it just goes all differnet coulers then freees and reeboots, it dose come up with a blue screen with writing on it but i cant read it cause it only comes on for a split second b4 it reboots , please will somebody give me advice , many thanks, could it be my graphics card?
If you turn-off auto restart, you will be able to read the Blue Screen. My first "guess" would be that the graphics card is overheating. Open up the case to assure that there is good air circulation without blockage of lint and dust at the intakes and on the heatsinks. Does your graphics care have a heatsink fan? Is it spinning vigorously? For a temporary test, consider leaving the case open and direct a brisk desk fan into the interior. Test drive the machine for a while to see if that added cooling prevents the problem.
thismorning i took the back off my pc to check graphics card and yes it was very very hot , so i took it out and gave it a good clean it was blocked up in dust, so i checked it again 2 mins ago and seems fine, its not hot atall and the fan is working properly. but it still dose the crashing thing , although it has let me pc in normal mode for now, it will no dout crash in a few mins
Clean the CPU heatsink with compressed air, and make sure the air intakes (usually lower front panel) are free of obstruction. Download and install either Everest or Speedfan to get some Temperature readings.

Please download and run Everest 2.20 available from MajorGeeks

Everest presents reliable readings and does a better job of sorting what's what… usually.

You can Save a Quick Report from Everest and post it in your next reply
No. That's your computer's Summary page. In Everest… click to expand on Computer - select Sensor Create a Quick Report in either plain text or html Post when you have it available. Best Regards
Well, I don't know what to make of that. The readings that Everest reports are "nothing to worry about", even though I'd "prefer" to have GPU lower than the 49°C. They are "hot" by default, especially if the owner/user is screaming through an active first-person-shooter or even MMP game. You could set "Charts" and watch it while your Son plays his WOW. I don't suppose you have another AGP that you could substitute in for test purposes?
If the "symptoms" repeat and persist, you most certainly should consider investing in a new graphics card. Does your machine have on-board graphics as well as the AGP. Probably does. You could pull the AGP and run with on-board graphics, which "should" support WOW at least at lower settings and maybe not terribly good display. But if you have no symptoms while using on-board graphics, you will have narrowed down your search for the culprit.
