Hello vexiked,

  • You may want to print out these instructions for reference prior to proceeding.

You are using a P2P site called Piratebay.org. This is most likely how you became infected in the first place.
Please see this topic for more information: Perils of P2P File Sharing

Piratebay requires you to download and install a program called Miro to access downloads from their site.

I would recommend that you uninstall Miro, however that choice is up to you.
If you wish to keep it, please do not use it until your computer is cleaned.

To remove Miro please go to Start Menu > Control Panel > Add/ Remove Programs
Scroll Down and locate the following programs:
  • Miro
Select the program, then select remove.
(if the program is not listed don't be alarmed, just continue)
NOTE: Take care when answering any questions posed by an uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into keeping the program.

Hello vexiked,
Welcome back to What the Tech.
My name is OCD, I will be helping you with your log today.

Please be advised, as I am still in training, all my replies to you will be checked for accuracy by one of our experts to ensure that I am giving you the best possible advise.
This may cause a delay, but I will do my best to keep it as short as possible.

The log you provided is old, please rescan your computer with these programs and provide the logs produced:

Please run RootRepeal

  • Download RootRepeal from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop.
    Here
    Here
    or Here

  • Open [external image: Posted Image] on your desktop.

  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] tab.

  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.

  • In the Select Scan dialog, check

    [external image: Posted Image]

  • Push Ok
  • Check the box for your main system drive (Usually C:), and press OK.
  • Allow RootRepeal to run a scan of your system. This may take some time.
  • Once the scan completes, push the [external image: Posted Image] button. Save the log to your desktop, using a distinctive name, such as RootRepeal.txt.
- - - - - Next - - - - -

Please download DDS from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
    • DDS.scr
    • DDS.pif
  • Disable any script blocking protection (How to Disable your Security Programs)
  • Double click DDS icon to run the tool (may take up to 3 minutes to run)
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • After a few moments, attach.txt will open in a second window.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
- - - - - Next - - - - -

On your next post please provide the following:
  • RootRepeal.txt
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scroling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and the click UPLOAD.
  • Tell me how your computer is running at the moment.

I hope a new Hijackthis log will suffice as Rootrepel would not install. Thanks for your help!
