Hello, My computer is being nasty. I'm getting a continuous RUNDLL error message. The message has the typical "RUNDLL" in the upper blue message ID border, then the message inside the gray window area to the right of the big red "X" says: "Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\Internet" (the word "program" is truncated just like this) on the first line and the second line says: "The specified module could not be found." The error message pops up about every 30 seconds or so and they continously stack up one on top of the other until I close them. When these RUNDLL messages pop on, it interupts whatever I'm doing on the computer at that time. Sometimes the computer locks up all together and I have to re-boot. I ran Ad-Ware which found and removed to quarantine 317 separate pieces of spyware. After re-booting however, this did not fix the problem. SpyBot has not helped either. Any ideas? Thanks, Bruce

Sounds like you still may be infected with spyware, virus, trojan, or worm. The only way to tell if you're infected is to post a Hijack This! log.

Please create a folder for Hijack This! (suggest "C:\HJT\") an download it (use the link in my signature) into that folder.

Click "Scan".

DO NOT "FIX" ANYTHING WITH IT YET!!!!
FIXING THE WRONG THING CAN RENDER YOUR MACHINE INOPERABLE!!!

Click "Save log".

Post the ENTIRE contents of the log file in this thread, and someone will check it for you and reply. :)
Hi and thanks for getting back so quickly. Your message says "Please create a folder for Hijack This! (suggest "C:\HJT\") an download it (use the link in my signature) into that folder." I do not see a link in your message for your signature. Do you mean the "Support this forum, Hijack This!, CWShredder Peper Uninstaller, Online Virus Scan, Safe Mode, Show Hidden Files" links? Please simplify your directions for this newbie to the forum. Many thanks, Bruce
I think I figured it out! Here's the log:

The files may be "hidden". Use the link in my signature to show you how to show "hidden" files if necessary.

Reboot and post a new log file. :)
I did all of the above. From your list of things to delete, there were 3 files "not found" (I followed and executed the Hidden Files instructions), there was 1 file that gave me a "Can not delete. Can not read from the source file or disc" message, and I could not delete the Internet Keyword folder.

Other than that, here's the new log:

It's OK, Bruce, you got most of them.

As long as the "fix" list gets shorter, we're going in the right direction. ;)

This time, boot in "safe" mode. Use the link in my signature to tell you how if necessary.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!, and fix these things:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch.com/ie.aspx?tb_id=50038

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [inetmgr] C:\PROGRA~1\Internet Keyword\inetmgr.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccacheo] C:\WINNT\System32\ccacheo.exe

O16 - DPF: {DDFFA75A-E81D-4454-89FC-B9FD0631E726} - http://www.imbum.com/Imbum_bw.cab

O16 - DPF: {E0CE16CB-741C-4B24-8D04-A817856E07F4} (IObjSafety.DemoCtl) - http://cabs.roings.com/cabs/budicon.cab

Reboot in safe mode again, and delete:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\Internet Keyword <– FOLDER

C:\WINNT\System32\ccacheo.exe <– file

Reboot in normal mode and post a new log file. :)
Hey! I think the computer is fixed! WOW!    Incredible!

Below is the current log after the above procedure. The machine booted right up (fast!) in Normal mode and there are no more RUNDLL error messages! Please let me know what (if anything) I need to do next, besides make a donation to this site!

Thanks,
Bruce

One teensy weensy bug left…

Let's try a more direct approach.

Push these 3 keys at the same time:

The Task manager appears on the screen.

Click the "Processes" tab.

Scroll thru the processes and find:

bddak.exe

Click it to highlight it. Then click "end process".

If it's in there more than once, repeat this process (highlight/end) each time until all instances of it have been ended.

Find and delete:
C:\WINNT\System32\bddak.exe

Run Hijack This! and fix this:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bddak] C:\WINNT\System32\bddak.exe

Reboot and post a new log file. :)
I followed the above procedure, the "bddak.exe" file is gone and here is the updated log:
