Please be advised, as I am still in training, all my replies to you will be checked for accuracy by one of our experts to ensure that I am giving you the best possible advise.

  • This solution is specifically tailored for this particular problem, please do not attempt to use this solution on another computer.
  • If you have any questions, or are uncertain about any steps please ask 'before' proceeding.

Please download DDS from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
    • DDS.scr
    • DDS.pif
  • Disable any script blocking protection (How to Disable your Security Programs)
  • Double click DDS icon to run the tool (may take up to 3 minutes to run)
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • After a few moments, attach.txt will open in a second window.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
  • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.

  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your next reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries

On your next post please provide the following:
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scroling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and the click UPLOAD.

I'm having some technical issues due to a power outage but I should have it fixed in a day or two. I will log in and take care of the things you listed. Thanks so much for your help!!

Your DDS log is incomplete. I need for you to re-run DDS and provide just the DDS log, no Attach.txt log is necessary

Please run RootRepeal

  • Download RootRepeal from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop.
    Here

  • Open [external image: Posted Image] on your desktop.

  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] tab.

  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.

  • In the Select Scan dialog, check

    [external image: Posted Image]

  • Push Ok
  • Check the box for your main system drive (Usually C:), and press OK.
  • Allow RootRepeal to run a scan of your system. This may take some time.
  • Once the scan completes, push the [external image: Posted Image] button. Save the log to your desktop, using a distinctive name, such as RootRepeal.txt.

Our main computer that had a netcard damaged during a storm has been fixed… now I'm just waiting to get a new router/hub set up for this computer… then I will do everything you said to do. Once again, thank your for your time and assistance. :)

Having any luck getting your router back online?


It looks like our router was fried from the storm and we just recently got this pc back online as it had some componets that were also damaged. So we will have to purchase a new one and we are trying to decide if we should go with a wireless one or not. But when we do I will come back to this thread for continued support or if it's too long then I will come and start a new thread when it's time… or whatever you decide what will be best.
