Hey guys, Hope y'all had a great summer, and I hope things are going well at What the Tech. I recently reformatted my computer (deleted all partitions, installed a fresh copy of Windows XP, etc.); however, I still think my computer is infected. I'm wondering if my computer might be infected by a boot sector virus or even a memory resident virus of some sort. Anyways, enclosed is my HijackThis log, and if you need any more information at all, please let me know. Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 7:20:58 AM, on 8/21/2009 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\scheduler.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\FortiProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\rmon.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\fortifw.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\fortiwf.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\WLTRYSVC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\bcmwltry.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorsvw.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\WLTRAY.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\SigmaTel\C-Major Audio\WDM\stsystra.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\FortiTray.exe C:\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\FCDBLog.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\fmon.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe O2 - BHO: HP Print Enhancer - {0347C33E-8762-4905-BF09-768834316C61} - C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Smart Web Printing\hpswp_printenhancer.dll O2 - BHO: AcroIEHelperStub - {18DF081C-E8AD-4283-A596-FA578C2EBDC3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelperShim.dll O2 - BHO: Java™ Plug-In 2 SSV Helper - {DBC80044-A445-435b-BC74-9C25C1C588A9} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jp2ssv.dll O2 - BHO: JQSIEStartDetectorImpl - {E7E6F031-17CE-4C07-BC86-EABFE594F69C} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\deploy\jqs\ie\jqs_plugin.dll O2 - BHO: HP Smart BHO Class - {FFFFFFFF-CF4E-4F2B-BDC2-0E72E116A856} - C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Smart Web Printing\hpswp_BHO.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Broadcom Wireless Manager UI] C:\WINDOWS\system32\WLTRAY.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SynTPEnh] C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SigmatelSysTrayApp] %ProgramFiles%\SigmaTel\C-Major Audio\WDM\stsystra.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [FortiClient] "C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\FortiClient.exe" /minimize O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BitTorrent DNA] "C:\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe" O9 - Extra button: HP Smart Select - {DDE87865-83C5-48c4-8357-2F5B1AA84522} - C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Smart Web Printing\hpswp_BHO.dll O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe O23 - Service: Ati HotKey Poller - ATI Technologies Inc. - C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe O23 - Service: ATI Smart - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ati2sgag.exe O23 - Service: Fortinet Service Scheduler (FA_Scheduler) - Fortinet Inc. - C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\scheduler.exe O23 - Service: Java Quick Starter (JavaQuickStarterService) - Sun Microsystems, Inc. - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe O23 - Service: nProtect GameGuard Service (npggsvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\GameMon.des.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service (wltrysvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\WLTRYSVC.EXE – End of file - 3784 bytes Here's the MalwareBytes' AntiMalware log as well: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.40 Database version: 2670 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 8/21/2009 1:01:15 PM mbam-log-2009-08-21 (13-01-15).txt Scan type: Full Scan (C:\|Z:\|) Objects scanned: 116811 Time elapsed: 13 minute(s), 49 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected) I also scanned in Safe Mode, and the results showed no infections.
