Hi,

Recently I seem to have got a virus, and I cant get rid of it!

I have Avira AntiVir and it keeps displaying an annoying pop up every few seconds saying that it has detected a virus called 'C:\windows\system32\hjgruiqtfqqtuf.dll' And that it contains a pattern of the TR.Redol.C Virus…

Ive tried running various malaware/spamware removal packages, but nothing has helped.

Im totally lost and have no idea of how to remove this virus..

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really dont want to lose any of my work/programs by formatting etc..

Thanks in advance everyone
Johnny

It would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi johnnyS, I got your logs and I will look them over and get back to you. In the mean time can you do a defrag, in vista it is needed a lot more . To get to the defrag area in Windows Vista, all you have to do is click on the Start button and type "defrag" into the search box. Doing that will bring the defrag window up for you automatically. You will then be asked if you're sure you want to continue on with what you're doing (trust me, you do!) So, just click the Continue button. From there, you can start the defrag process by clicking the Defragment Now button. The defrag will then run on your system and you can just wait for the results. Now, from that window, you can also set up a schedule for the defrag to run on its own. If you want to do that, click on the Modify Schedule button and you can then set the times for how often you'd like it to run, on what day and at what time. It's all about your own preferences! thanks mschroe919
Hi johnnyS

Before we do the next program please disable your windows defender and your spybot S&D teatimer
as they could effect our scans we will enable them after were done.
Here is how to do both:

You need To disable TeaTimer, it can stop our fix.

1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts

Open Windows Defender.

Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.

NEXT:
Using Internet Explorer, please do a Kaspersky online scan] This scan takes about 60 minutes to complete.

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
Locate the Scan Settings button & configure as follows:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended
Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
Click OK & have it scan My Computer
Once the scan is complete, it will provide a report if your system is infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.

Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop and post it in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log
Hi, The defragment doesnt seem to be working, every time i click 'Defragment Now', Avira pops up with that annoying vius message as soon as I click it. It seems to be halting the Defrag process. Ive tried Defrag in safe mode but nothing happens.. Should i just go onto part two of your suggestion, of have you any more ideas? Thanks, johnnyS
Hi Yes try the online scan. It may take awhile, I will be here for a couple hours and then I will return tonight; mschroe919
