Please down load the Internet Connection Repair Utility

Run the program and click the Run Test button to start diagnosing your Vista computer for internet connection problems.

Please report back the findings.

Hi Modem thats connected with an Eternet cable and the Wireless Rowter is Connected to the Modem vie USB / I ran the Internet Connection Reapair Tool and it came back with Failure Action Required.

If you bypass the router and try connecting directly via the modem..do you have the same problem?

I don't believe this is a malware issue at this point.

1. Let me know if bypassing the router makes any difference.

2.

Was there any other information given - such as - what exactly had failed?

3. Please run this diagnostic tool on your system so we can rule out malware:
you will need to download it onto another computer and transfer it over via USB and run it.
Please download DDS from either of these links

and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.pif to run the tool.
  • When done, two DDS.txt's will open.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

4. Let's try running LSPFix again, this time - right click it and run it as an Administrator:

Close all windows except LSPfix
click on LSPfix.exe and it will launch the program.
Put a check mark in the box “I know what I am doing”
Click ‘Finish’
REBOOT to complete the task.


5. Now try this reset command again - this one will have to be done in safe mode in the Administrators account
  • Click on Start button.
  • Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
  • Type the following command in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
    • netsh winsock reset
  • Restart the computer.
post the resulting message from performing this function.

6.reset the TCP/IP - this too needs to be done in safe mode from the Administrators account
  • Click on Start button.
  • Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
  • Type the following command in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
    • netsh int ip reset
  • Restart the computer.

IT did not make a diffrence when i connected Direct from the MODEM still NO INTERNET and iam still getting the same pop up messages the computer is still the same pritty much all the same as it has been all week !!!!!

Did you complete all 6 steps in my previous post?

Please post the results of each step.

Please do the following:

Let’s try to reset the router to its default configuration.
  • This can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router.
  • Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds).
  • If you don’t know the router's default password, you can look it up. HERE
  • You also need to reconfigure any security settings you had in place prior to the reset.
  • You may also need to consult with your Internet service provider to find out which DNS servers your network should be using.

NEXT

  • Go to Start > Control Panel, and choose Network Connections.
  • Right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection for cable and DSL or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and choose Properties.
  • Click the Networking tab
  • Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item.
  • Write down the settings in case you should need to change them back.
  • Select the radio button that says "Obtain DNS servers automatically".
  • Click OK twice to get out of the properties screen and restart your computer.
  • If not prompted to reboot go ahead and reboot manually.
CAUTION: It's possible that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) requires specific DNS settings here. Make sure you know if you need these settings or not BEFORE you make any changes or you may lose your Internet connection. If you're sure you do not need a specific DNS address, then you may proceed.

NEXT

You will need to do this from the Administrators account
  • Now go to Start > type: cmd into the start search box
  • Press OK or Hit Enter.
  • At the command prompt, type or copy/paste: ipconfig /flushdns (note the space between “..g /f…” it needs to be there)
  • Hit Enter.
  • You will get a confirmation that the flush was successful.
  • Close the command box.

I cannot Access network when i try to access the settings in Network and Sharing Center i tryed to turn off File Sharring and then the Windows Security Centre Kicks in and says i cannot CHANGE OR ACCSSES enything so i cannot get to the Settings to sort out the Wireless Network and the Wireless Router is working Fine as its working ok

Hi as for The other Computers / Laptops and P.C. and Playstation in the Network / Netgear WNR2000 are All up and Running Fine and ok and you can Surf the NET OK Using those computers OK Just thought i would let you no Iam using a Laptop to contact you and its on the Wireless Network OK.

Tryed everything i think it mybe time to contact QVC the shopping channel whare i bought the computer from 6 MONTHS AGO as i think its totally notgood up now i mean i cant even set up a WIRLESS NETWORK or enything as soon as you try the Security Centre Kicks in and Stops you doing enything cant even accsess NETWORK CONNECTIONS TO SET UP A NETWORK what do you think whats the next move .
