Hello, Tech Team! [external image: Posted Image]
I could not log into my e-mail account today. I got this:📎cookie_error_msg.JPG
I ended up installing IE 8.
My Symantec will not enable. I get this:📎Symantec_screen_shot.JPG
and on Windows Security Center I get this:📎Windows_Sec_Cntr_screen_shot.JPG
These screens are not really responding to me.
I did a quick scan with mbam after updating and I have an HJT log but when I tried to run Kaspersky online, I got this:📎Kaspersky_update_error.JPG

Here's my mbam log:

Welcome back Kathy,

You have have to transfer the program to the infected computer.

Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
    • DDS.scr
    • DDS.pif
  • Disable any script blocking protection (How to Disable your Security Programs)
  • Double click DDS icon to run the tool (may take up to 3 minutes to run)
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • After a few moments, attach.txt will open in a second window.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
—————————————————
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scroling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and the click UPLOAD.
Hello, Tomk!! :notworthy:
It's so good to talk to you again! A friend let me take her tower home for a few days.

Kathy, The biggest thing I see is that your Symantec is out of date. Do I understand correctly that your license is not expired but it won't update?
Hi, Tomk! :o I've lost control. I cannot enable the Symantec. I can't log in to WTT or my e-mail or other sites with password logins. I can do so on other pcs. I could not run Kaspersky from my pc. Might I have some password stealing malware or something…? :wavey: Kathy
Hi, Tomk! My Windows firewall is already on. I'll have to change over to my pc…do I have ZoneAlarm…? I have to wait a bit before I can change back over to my PC; I'm sorry for the delay! :wavey: Kathy
Kathy, Not positive, but you apparently did at some point. The service appears to be wonky. If it doesn't show in your uninstall list, then we'll take out the remnant and see what that does for us.
Okey-dokey! I'll get right to it as soon as I can change back over. Again, I'm sorry for the delay, Tom; I really appreciate your help! :wavey: Kathy
Kathy,

Well, all I'm finding is the wonky driver.

Please download the OTM by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTM.exe to run it.
(Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines inside the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Services
    vsdatant

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
  • Return to OTM, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTM
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Let's look for rootkits.

Download Rooter.exe to your desktop

  • Then doubleclick it to start the tool
  • A Notepad file containing the report will open, also found at %systemdrive%\Rooter.txt. Post that here
Hello, Tomk! [external image: Posted Image]

Hello, Tomk!
I am now able to log on to WTT (YAY!), but still cannot log into my email (see post #1) and Symantec will not enable. I get this:📎Symantec_problems.JPG
Was installing IE 8 a mistake?
Added note:
Just now, I hit the link to Forums (I was opening it in another window) I got logged out of WWT again and could not log back in through that window. I'm very worried!
