I really need your help : (

First, a VERY BIG THANK YOU for helping me get my java back after doing something stupid with my little knowledge…

The thing is, I am currently studying java programming(self-study) and the book says that I need my computer to have a javac. I downloaded Java SE 6 Update 26(JDK) from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/jav…oads/index.html. Then I go to command prompt and type java -version, it says 1.6.0_26 but when I type in javac -version, it says that I don' t have it. Where and how can I get this thing or is it unnecessary?
The JavaC (Java compiler) is part of the Java Development Kit. I'm not familiar with it. I suggest you do a bit of searching on google how to use it, or post your question in a new thread in the Programming forum.

Thanks for the feedback.
Hi there The file link given in the first post (http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=41), seems to be dead as it returns the error "We're sorry, but your last request produced the following error: We could not find the file specified" on the website Would be great if it could be re-uploaded or have a different download location. Thanks :)
Hi neonfur, and welcome to the WTT forums I just tested the link and it works fine for me….. Try it again and let us know how you get on. Regards paws
The problem is that I made a small change to the description in the listing. Its awaiting approval by an admin again. I'll send some messages around and try to get that done. I didn't realize it would take the whole file off-line.

YESSSS!!!!! MAN THANKS!!!! WOAH I've searched 2 days for the fix!!!! Your the hero!!!!!1!!!

Ohhh, now I need the same fix for JDK (Java development kit) Any ideas?
SPENT SEVERAL HOURS TRYING TO FIX THE JAVA INSTALLATION ISSUES. HOW DO I SAY THANK YOU. THANK YOU. LIFESAVER. THAT INCOMPETENT JAVA PEOPLE MUST COME AND LEARN FROM YOU. GOOD LUCK. Glad Appleoddities fix helped you. Enjoy the rest of our Forums and come back when you are able or in need.
You are a freekin GOD :) I've been trying to research this for over a week with no love… NOTHING worked… I even got desperate and searched the entire registry for occurrences of the text 'java' and… well… I probably messed up some installs… we'll find out SOME day LOL… I really appreciate your work. Thanks SO much
Thanks a zillion for this wonderful solution! :D I have spent days trying to solve this problem, and I finally found you and your fix which solved the problem instantly. I noticed that more people in Holland have this same problem posted in different fora for help (so far without much success), and I will post the link to this topic for them as well. You have made me (and probably many more dutchies) very happy. May the force be with you! ;)
Although everything is working fine now, I just found a related problem: When opening the control panel, programs, the Java icon is blank and Java can't be opened. This is what Java says about this: If you do not see the coffee cup icon in the Windows Control Panel, you do not have Java installed on your computer. [/i
How to solve this?
