Hiya, redoing this after being redirected for updated HJT while posting, cannot see previous post.

We had sysguard, trayicon balloons and notifications, multiple instances (33) of iexplore in processes, AVGfree 8.5 got some, unable to install spybot, tracked sysguard.exe and renamed. Downloaded and renamed Malwarebytes scanned and cleaned, system restore will not set points and reports no points available to restore, service is auto and started. Currently Dcom launcher svc is disabled, this prevents new iexplore processes. Malwarebytes continues to report uacinit.dll and a registry key after reboot and rescan.

Then found this forum………………………have installed and run ERUNT and HJT, then had another go,

Here's the log, I look forward to your advice.

Hi and :welcome:

NOTE:
  • Malware removal is NOT instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.
  • Absence of symptoms does not always mean the job is complete. You can be certain that I will advise you when the computer is clean.
  • Kindly follow my instructions in the order posted. While we are working together, please do not run any scans or fix items without my direction.
  • If you have any questions please ask before proceeding.

NEXT

Please download DDS from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
    • DDS.scr
    • DDS.pif
  • Disable any script blocking protection (How to Disable your Security Programs)
  • Double click DDS icon to run the tool (may take up to 3 minutes to run)
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • After a few moments, attach.txt will open in a second window.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scroling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and then click UPLOAD.

Download the GMER Rootkit Scanner. Unzip it to your Desktop.
Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
Double-click gmer.exe. The program will begin to run.
**Caution**
These types of scans can produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any
"<— ROOKIT" entries unless advised!
If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan.
  • Click NO
  • In the right panel, you will see a bunch of boxes that have been checked … leave everything checked and ensure the Show all box is un-checked.
  • Now click the Scan button.
Once the scan is complete, you may receive another notice about rootkit activity.
  • Click OK.
  • GMER will produce a log. Click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "GMER.txt"
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop.
Post the contents of GMER.txt in your next reply.
Hi catbyte, thanks for picking this up, First up I'll just mention again that I have disabled the Dcomlauncher service, please advise if this should be left or re-activated prior to further action. I got dds down from the first link and saved to desktop, disabled AVG 8.5 resident shield as described and ran the script. I cannot think that any other script blocking is in place. The script failed with this reply in a dos box, 'FINDSTR.EXE' is not recognized as aninternal or external command, operable program or batch file. I rebooted and confirmed AVG resident shield was confirmed disabled then tried again with same result, thats as far as I went. TMG…………….
Hi,

Please run the GMER scan, try it in safe mode…malware is interfering:

Then try this tool instead of DDS

  • Download OTL to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt.
Note:These logs can be located in the OTL. folder on you C:\ drive if they fail to open automatically.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply. You may need two posts to fit them both in.
Hiya, I tried GMER in safe mode, which failed to start at all, rebooted to normal and tried again and failed so printed instructions and ran OTL, this popped a dialog box:

Titled: windows - no disk
Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c

Options: cancel, try again, continue,

I hit try again a few times it just repeated so I moved to continue and hit it repeatedly until the scan resumed and logfiles were generated, here they are……….

    [Reboot]
  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
  • Then post a new OTL log ( don't check the boxes beside LOP Check or Purity this time )

NEXT

Try running the GMER program again: try renaming to gmer.com if it will not run
Ok, ran OTL fix as instructed and rebooted, reran OTL scan, results below, GMER failed so renamed and ran as .com. GMER did not complete its scan, windows stopped it and produced an error report to send which I fired up the connection and sent.

I grabbed a copy of the error generated text file and copied as much of the GMER as was produced before it closed, find these also below, sheesh……….

This to microsoft…

Hi,

Please do the following:

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
**Note:  In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved and renamed following this process directly to your desktop**
  • If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
    • Tools->Options->Main tab
    • Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".
  • During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    [external image: Posted Image]

    [external image: Posted Image]
  • It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
  • Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    ———————————————————–

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      ———————————————————–

    • Close any open browsers.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    ———————————————————–

  • Go to Start then Run
  • Copy and paste the folowing command (with quotation marks) "%userprofile%/Desktop/Combo-Fix.exe" /killall
    into the run box.
  • Press OK to start ComboFix
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\Combo-Fix.txt" for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combo-fix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**
Alrighty then, that had a good crack at it, here's the results,

ComboFix 09-06-25.04 - OEM 06/26/2009 19:50.1 - NTFSx86
Running from: c:\documents and settings\[removed]\Desktop\Combo-Fix.exe

  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

It's important to run this online scan to search for any remnants. It can take some time, so please be patient and allow it to run it's full course:

Using Internet Explorer or Firefox, visit Kaspersky Online Scanner:
1. Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.
2. To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
  • Close any open programs
  • Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
3. Click Run at the Security prompt. The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database. Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
  • Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
  • Click View scan report at the bottom.
    [external image: Posted Image]
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply

Post a fresh HJT log and advise in detail, how your computer is running now and if there are any outstanding issues.
Done that, results of OTM and HJT below……..

Otherwise, In general much improved since running Combo-fix, the boot up/login seems faster than it has for a while and unexpected events no longer occur. I recognize most of the running processes as legitimate.

I was able to create a restore point, Please advise if I should keep or delete this.

A file named uac9.tmp has appeared on the desktop should I delete this?

Also some entries I added in browser favorites are now visible. ( good)

To this point AVG resident sheild remains disabled as does the Dcom launcher service,
