MalwareBytes found and "removed" Trojan.Agent. TrendMicro found and "cleaned" HackingTools_Redbutton. This is the 2nd time that MalwareBytes as reported Trojan.Agent on my machine this week. Call me paranoid, but I don't trust any Anti-Malware program anymore. Can someone please look at my HJT log and let me know if the system is clean or not?

Thanks guys.

Hi SportsCityIT,

:welcome:

My name is Tomk. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Then

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot (shut down your computer then restart it).
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hi TomK,

Thanks for the help. I followed your instructions. The logs are posted below.

The computer does not seem to be doing anyting out of the ordinary.

Hi TomK, The items in 015-Trusted Zone are all websites I use daily. Do these truly have to be deleted? I so, then I guess I can just add them again afterwards. Thanks
SportsCityIT, They don't have to be in the Trusted Zone to be used. When you put things in the Trusted Zone, you are telling your security programs to ignore anything that comes from them. This is like locking your front door but leaving your garage door unlocked. That said, it you are just going to add them back to the Trusted Zone, then don't bother removing them. They don't have to be deleted.
Holy carp** that took a long time! HOLY DOUBLE CRAPOLA!!! None of those files have ever shown up in any scan, by any Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware program before. I even had Kaspersky installed on this machine for a month and they never showed up. Is that really a Trojan in my Trend Micro directory? :smack:
SportsCityIT,

Basically you have bunch of infected emails.

Is that really a Trojan in my Trend Micro directory?

That trojan is again related to an infected email. I believe that is quarantined file that Kaspersky found.

You have infected emails in your Outlook Express program in the deleted items folder, the E folder, the Ebay folder, the Ebay purchases folder, and the Paypal folder. You also have infected emails in the Outlook program in your Outlook folder and in your Barb2006 folder. I can't tell which emails are infected. You need to go through all of your email in each of these folders and delete everything you don't need/want/recognize. Odds are that the infected emails will have attachments or at least links. Don't open any attachments or click on any links. When you are done, please empty the deleted items folder.

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Then please give me another HijackThis log.
