Looking for the outcome? Ask AI

Ok, so it started about two weeks ago. My computer started to get really weird. First it would lags on every website I'd go to. Then my sound wasn't working correctly and when i clicked the sound levels (you know the little speaker icon on your task panel) it would not give me the same *PING!* sound it usually does. Some weird noise would come from my CPU. Hold down all your arrows keys and you'll see what noise I'm talking about. If you're on a windows like me.

Anyways, yea… Then today i searched the word Sony on my hard drive. Some friggun cell phones i never ever had before came out, WTF??!?!?!
Look here's a screenie!!

Yea, so that's:

-Slow, laggy, strange.
-weird sounds
-Cell phones i never had

Any help Would much much much be appreciated!
(Computer wont load Imageshack right now '-_-)post up soon.

Hi eros1,

No need to apologize. I still haven't heard anything about why you encountered that error.

Some old java to uninstall. Go to add/remove programs an uninstall

Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

Do Not uninstall Java™ 6 Update 13

Next, Double click on OTList2.exe
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following
  • Do Not copy the word CODE
  • please note the fix starts with the :
:OTLI
PRC - C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE (Microsoft Corporation)

:Services

:Reg

:Files
c:\windows\system32\opelayug.ini

:Commands
[emptytemp]
[start explorer]
[Reboot]

Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered
  • Please save the resulting log to be posted in your next reply.

Next

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : How to Disable your Security Programs
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Please post back with
  • OTLISIT2 log
  • combofix log
  • new HJT log taken after all other steps

Please describe any symptoms you are having.

Thanks

Hi Eros1,

These logs look pretty good. How's the computer?

Is System Restore turned on? If not please turn it on. To check

Click your start button, right click on My Computer, click Prorerties

When the System Properties box appears,
  • please click on the System Restore tab
  • Make sure the box beside Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all Drives is NOT checked
  • if it is click it to clear the check mark
  • Click Apply, click OK

Thanks
The computer is running pretty well actually. Just one weird thing. Usualy when i click the sound decrease/increase button on my keyboard Some lines come up, that look like this ( | | | | | | | | |—- ) To show me how high/low the sound is. Those don't seem to appear anymore when i do it. Maybe it's nothing. But the computer is running pretty smooth :D
Hi Eros1, Did this start before or after we started cleaning your computer? It may be a setting that got turned off. I don't have a multimedia keyboard, but there should be an icon near the clock for the interface. You may want to heck there to see if there is an on screen display (OSD) setting for the volume control. Let me know what you find and we will clean up when you post back. Thanks
