Ok it all began with some minor tolerable pop ups…then my google search results came up with other searches instead of results…over time it became more and more and then it happened. My laptopgot pretty sloooow. I couldnt get regedit open or cmd, nothing worked. I tried scanning it online with kapersky, and it just bypassed whatever the problem may be because it showed me that nothing was wrong when scanned. Then my laptop did nothing. I would turn it on and it just froze. Now almost a month later I scanned it with hijack this and I have to send the log through my desktop, since I could not get on the internet via laptop…
So now here I am. Please help! :pullhair:

Hi,

Please download DaonolFix from the link below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
  • Double-click DaonolFix.exe to run it.
  • Select 1. Find Daonol (no fix) by typing 1 and pressing Enter.
  • You will see a lot of files being listed - don't worry, they are just being scanned.
  • A log will open, please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called DaonolFix.txt).

Download ComboFix by sUBs from here or here

Note: If you already have a copy of ComboFix on your system it is essential that you delete it before downloading this copy.

**Save it to your desktop**

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts. If you are prompted to install the Recovery Console I recommend you go ahead and hit yes.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please save that log to post in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log

Notes:
  • Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
  • ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
  • Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you - please let me know.
  • ComboFix disconnects your machine from the internet when it runs. This connection should be automatically restored when ComboFix completes its run. If ComboFix runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

I need to see another log from HijackThis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
  • Press the Save list button.
  • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.
Thanks.
Thank you for the response! Here is my Daonol log:

Let me know how things are running, and post a new HijackThis log as well.
Hi the one problem I have is that I cannot go on the internet from the laptop where this is happening. Any other suggestions perhaps?
Ah I see.

OK, can you do the registry fix via a USB or whatever you have been using to transfer tools and logs?

Please also scan with the following tool, again with whatever you are using to transfer stuff to your laptop.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Post that log back here.
After that, we'll see if we find out what is wrong with the Internet.

OK, things are looking pretty clean. What kind of Internet Connection are you using? Wireless or Ethernet? Is there a Router involved? Any problems with any other computers if you're using a Network? Does the laptop recognize a connection to Modem/Router at all?
Hi My laptop picks up wireless signals. I currently use a router and none of the connections show in the network connections folder. Also I cannot seem to get anything when I check the device manager…it opens up emty! And the time is always shown in military hours(14:02) as opposed to 2:02

Hi,

That's odd, nothing at all?

Let's just check something out.

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2

  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:

    PlugPlay
  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Thanks.

Hmm, we may have found the problem (or at least part of it).

Click Start >> Run, then copy/paste the following into the Run box and hit Enter:
services.msc

When the services Window appears, scroll down the right-hand pane until you see "Plug and Play". Right click on it and select Properties. Where it says "Startup Type", change the drop-down box so that is says Automatic. Click Apply.

Close all Windows and then restart your computer. With any luck, this service will start on reboot (as it should do). Once rebooted, check to see if:

1. Your Internet is working

2. Device Manager shows items

Let me know how it goes.
Hi there!! Ok ran the services.msc but all I got was device manager popping up after it taking a looong time after restart. I noticed a lot of things were disabled and also took it upon myself to enable network connections, but nothing happened after restart. It still found no connections. So device manager works but no internet…
I suspect there are probably other services that should be running that were disabled. Let's try something that may or may not work, but its worth a shot.

Restart your computer as if you were going into Safe Mode (tap F8 just before Windows starts loading). When presented with a list of options, select Last Known Good Configuration. This will start Windows normally with some different settings.

When Windows loads check to see if your Internet is working. Please also run the following scan, regardless of whether it works or not (via USB if you have to).

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done two logs should open:
  • DDS.txt
  • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
—————————————————
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scrolling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and then click UPLOAD.
