Hi guys, I am new to the board. My problem is that every time I am doing a search, the bottom left hand corner of my browser will either say seocash.us or tebe.us. I am constantly being redirected when doing searches through yahoo and sometimes google. I have ran Malware bytes and it doesn't pick up anything. I have also ran superanti spyware in safe mode and it also does not pick up anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi ulrads1 and welcome to the forums here at WTT!

We need a HijackThis! log to see what's going on here.

[external image: Posted Image]Click here to download HJTInstall.exe
  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : How to Disable your Security Programs

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply. Please also post an updated HijackThis log and let me know how it's running.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

It looks like that might have done it. I don't see the seocash or tebe.us on the bottom corner anymore. Also, some of the sites that wouldn't work before are now functioning. Thank you so much.
Glad it's better. Combofix did quite a bit, but more work to do….

1. Open Notepad

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

File::
c:\program files\mozilla firefox\components\dfff.dll
c:\windows\system32\drivers\ovfsthlvddclwkyabuwprrvcnqoeqhgawuyndp.sys
c:\windows\system32\ovfsthixfqijkvxghoxskrdqhuxkvooumexwcy.dll
c:\windows\system32\ovfsthskoykduxfqpwbtnsnyfvkltjilmiatly.dll
c:\windows\system32\ovfsthtaanunvrlonypxugjdcquaubiwqjxemn.dat
c:\windows\system32\ovfsthwtuwaurmpkyndpllrmqstnjghxipsihg.dll
c:\windows\system32\ovfsthxqvergwvdvpkikurvrwydjcsymbiebnw.dat

Folder::
c:\documents and settings\Titi\Application Data\pidle

Registry::
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"pidle"=-

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:
  • Combofix.txt
  • A new HijackThis log.

Question for you. Don't open the files that I'm asking about unless you know what they are. Do you know what they are? They show as .jpg which are pictures. They are just in a strange place.

c:\program files\rita_red002.jpg
c:\program files\19.jpg
c:\program files\6x.jpg

Your hosts file is also corrupt.

Download the HostsXpert 4.3 - Hosts File Manager.
  • Unzip HostsXpert 4.3 - Hosts File Manager to a convenient folder such as C:\HostsXpert 4.3 - Hosts File Manager
  • Run HostsXpert 4.3 - Hosts File Manager from its new home
  • Click on "File Handling".
  • Click on "Restore MS Hosts File".
  • Click OK on the Confirmation box.
  • Click on "Make Read Only?"
  • Click the X to exit the program.
  • Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.
Couple of things I missed….

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :processes
    explorer.exe

    :files
    c:\program files\WWShow
    c:\program files\mozilla firefox\components\WWShow.dll

    :commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [reboot]
  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Let me know how it's running along with a new HJT log.
