[Resolved] hijackthis log for a different computer

My laptop has been very slow lately, for about a year and a half if that counts for lately..I am considering buying more RAM for it since i am currently running on 512. its running SUPER SLOW . However I do not believe that is the root of the problem. I believe I have a lot of spyware and perhaps viruses which I am unaware of so I came here! I have upgraded my RAM to 2gb and I was told that one of the reasons that my computer was starting up extremely slowly because of my outdated norton, so I upgraded that as well. I did as you told me and truthfully I haven't used my computer much but it does seem to start up much more quickly. Actually come to think of it the internet loaded much much faster as well. Thank you for the help, I have one more problem I would like to see if you could help me with. I'm hoping that there is a simple solution but if its not then don't worry about it. Here is my problem: whenever my computer starts up a windows installer starts, it loads for a minute and then says "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage' disk and click OK." I no longer have the disk I used to load Office onto my computer and all my office components seem to operate just fine. I wish I could stop this from coming up everytime I start up the computer. If you know of a way to do this please let me know, if not then no worries. Thank you again for your help.

Wow, thank you so much.. I have been dealing with that windows installer on start up for probably two years. The profile watcher wasn't in the program list at first but I was able to locate the folder and delete it. My computer seems to be running well, three things seems to run much faster: start up, shut down, and the internet. Actually most programs open faster now that I'm checking. This same windows installer comes up whenever I try to open an office component, I press cancel and then the programs always run like normal. I wish I could find the disks and let it do whatever it needs to. Other then that problem everything seems to be running fine. Thank you again for your help, and I will definitely keep up with everything until you give me the all clear.

I did reboot before and this time as well. I triple checked both the add/remove programs and the programs files for the profilewatcher but it isn't there. I already deleted the folder before and made sure to empty the bin.

It has been ages since I've used that program so no problem getting rid of it. It wasn't listed in the add/remove programs, but I 'fixed' it on hijackthis. Then when I went to look for the program folder I wasn't able to find it. Then I clicked on show hidden folders and looked around a little and found the folder in a different location: C:\Documents and Settings\Jocelyn\Application Data. This location has many program folders in it, however I did not locate the profile watcher folder in either locations. I deleted it in the program files folder before.

Also I keep seeing things that have AOL on them. I don't use aol and never have. My computer came with an aol trial but I really don't need any of the aol stuff. I always delete it in add/remove programs when I do periodic cleaning (getting rid of old no longer used programs) but it never seems to go away completely.
