Hi, my name is Jennifer and I'm here in need of help. When I click on a link in google or some place else, I'll be redirected to another site that I didn't want. I tried many softwares to remove the problem, but nothing worked. I'm not a computer type of girl, but I think I have the bitsprx.dll trojan. I will really appreciate it if someone can help me solve this problem.
I got onto this website when I google the bitsprx.dll trojan and found out that someone had this problem before……

Hello Jennifer and welcome to the forums here at WTT!

:welcome:

Your research is correct. And if you read through the information you probably know that bitsprx.dll is a password stealing trojan. Also, unfortunately, there are signs of backdoor trojans also present. With this type of infection I feel the need to give you this warning…

Identity Theft

It looks like you have been infected by a few Backdoor Trojans.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

Its very possible that anything could have been installed on your computer by the remote attacker, including opening other backdoors and installing rootkits. While we can attempt to clean what we see in your logs, we cannot guarantee that your computer will be completely in the clear since we have no way of knowing that has been done to the computer. Your computer could be completely compromised at this moment. It may be prudent to backup your information, reformat, and reinstall.

More information on Remote Access Trojans can be found here.

I suggest you do the following immediately:
  • Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change *all* your online passwords – for email, for banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, any online forums or groups you belong to.
  • DO NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passwords and transaction information.

If, however, you decide that the computer is not used for any sensitive work, or if you do not wish to reformat at this time, I can help you clean your computer to the best of my abilities. I must remind you that i cannot guarantee that your computer will be completely clean afterwards since we have no way of knowing what has been done to it.

To help you make your decision, here are a few related articles that i suggest you read:

  • Danger: Remote Access Trojans.
  • When should I re-format? How should I reinstall?
  • How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and Credit Card Fraud?

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let me know what you decide to do in your next post.
I wish to do what you people say because I don't know much about computer…… Just give me the steps and I'll follow… Thanks.
Can someone help me asap…. I really need to use this computer, but with that problem I can't trust the computer with my informations……help…? :(
Yes, I will be the one helping you. You have to remember we are all volunteers here and have other responsibilities in life. I cannot be here 24/7 but will respond as quickly as I can.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : How to Disable your Security Programs

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply. Please also post an updated HijackThis log and let me know how it's running.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

First, I will like to say sorry. I did not mean to push you into helping me asap and I apologize for my behavior. Second, I started to go around clicking some links on google about a research topic I had and everything seems to be normal. It does not re-direct me to another site anymore for now…. and will see for another day in how things progress. Third, I will also wish if you can help me clean this computer. You will see that I posted the things you needed. Thanks so much.
I'm willing to give full protection to my computer, so I have a few software installed. Superantispyware, registry mechanic, avast, and malwarebytes. Should I take some of these software out or add any needed? Recommendation?
1. Open Notepad

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

File::
c:\windows\system32\bitsprx.dll

Driver::
WTMBT

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{CF75295A-5375-440B-8611-B1B6D730C4DC}]

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:
  • Combofix.txt
  • A new HijackThis log.

The below scan can take up to an hour or longer, please be patient.

*Note
It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans so no conflicts and to speed up scan time.
Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once scan is finished remember to re-enable resident antivirus protection along with whatever antispyware app you use.

Please do a scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner or from here
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
