Ran ATF Cleaner. Tried to run MalwareBytes but it doesn't do anything. Hourglass comes up then just ends. I don't know if this matters but I have to use TaskManager to kill several processes before I can even get a IE to work. Anyway, I am going to run the scan now. Will post results later. Thanks for the great help.
Hi,

It's a little concerning that MalwareBytes won't run on your computer, which means you have malware which is blocking it, so we will need to look further.

Please do the following:

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

VERY IMPORTANT !!!
Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]
  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
4. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please advise.
5. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now
Last night I tried to run the Kaperskys scan but couldn't because many of the link/buttons were disabled on the page. I was not able to click accept. Tried ComboFix, but it won't run either. It appears in the taskmanager but won't complete. I have tried booting into safe mode for malwarebytes but that didn't work either. I haven't tired that for combofix, but I suspect that it won't work either. Please advise. Thanks.
Nope - won't run in Safe Mode either. :pullhair: After trying, when I would boot normally, pc would lock up. I got it working again by running ATF cleaner - not sure if that really was the fix, but twice the system locked so I booted into safe mode again and ran ATF cleaner. When I booted back normally, things worked fine. PC seems to be running fine, except SuperAnti Spyware is killed when it tries to start. I also can't open IE without killing every process that I can. I have tried to narrow it down as to which process it might be, but there's lots of them and if I don't get the right ones, when I try to open IE, Windows locks. Makes for a painful diagnosis since I have to restart each time. Please advise.
Delete the copy of combo fix you have now and do the following

Try and run this fresh copy from safe mode also.

Download Combofix from any of the links below. You must rename it before saving it. Save it to your desktop.
