    It is more difficult when files/programs are appearing in/disappearing from the logs.
  • Please do not run any scans other than those requested
  • Please follow all instructions in the order posted

  • Do not attach any logs/reports, etc.. unless specifically requested to do so.
  • If you have problems with or do not understand the instructions, Please ask before continuing.

Looking at your log now, I will post back soon with additional instructions.

Thanks
Hi ed-e-dee,

You have 2 programs to disable before we start, they may interfere with the cleaning.

Please disable WINDOWS DEFENDER
  • Click Start > All Programs > Windows Defender or launch from the system tray icon.
  • Click on Tools & Settings > Options.
  • Under Administrator options, clear the Use Windows Defender check box, and then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation
(When we are done, you can re-enable Defender using the same steps but this time place a check next to "Turn on real-time protection" check box.)

You will need to disable Spybot's Tea Timer function, if it is running, as it may interfere. - this is a two step process.
First step:
  • Right-click the Spybot Icon in the System Tray (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol)
  • If you have the new version 1.5, Click once on Resident Protection, then Right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
  • If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident
Second step, For Either Version :
  • Open Spybot S&D
  • Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
  • Go To the bottom of the Vertical Panel on the Left, Click Tools
  • then, also in left panel, click Resident shows a red/white shield.
  • If your firewall raises a question, say OK
  • In the Resident protection status frame, Uncheck the box labelled Resident "Tea-Timer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active
  • OK any prompts.
  • Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
  • Reboot your machine fully for the changes to take effect.

  • Under Main choose: Select All

If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Hi ed-e-dee,

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : How to Disable your Security Programs
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Please post back with the combofix log and a new HJT log.

Thanks
Hello oldman I'm having problems with Combofix. what is supposed to do ,how long does it go for, all I get is a blue screen and a flicking cursa,I have let it run for over an hour and nothing seems to be happening am I doing something wrong.
Hi ed-e-dee,

Combofix should finish in about 10-15 minutes. 30 tops and you should see something on the screen. If there is any hard drive activity, then combofix is working.

If it's still running, end it with task manager.

Please delete the copy of combofix you have from your desktop and download a new one with the instructions below.

Also please pay close attention to the instructions regarding your security programs. They can interfer.

If one of your security programs detects any of combofix's file during download, do not allow that file to be removed. Some of our tools, because of their nature, do get detected as malware.

It is vitally important that combofix is renamed before it is even started to download

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

  • If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
    -Tools->Options->Main tab
    -Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".
  • During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

[external image: Posted Image]

[external image: Posted Image]

  • It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
  • Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix

———————————————————–

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

    ———————————————————–

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. I can;t see what im missing or doing wrong , if the cursa is still flashing on the blue screen does that mean combo is working ,is there supposed to be some text on the screen also?.
Hi ed-e-dee,

There should be some text. It has stalled.

Download avz4.zip from here
  • Unzip it to your desktop to a folder named avz4
  • Double click on AVZ.exe to run it.
  • Run an update by clicking the Auto Update button on the Right of the Log window: [external image: Posted Image]
  • Click Start to begin the update
Note: If you recieve an error message, chose a different source, then click Start again
  • After the update, from the "File" menu, choose "Standard Scripts"
  • Put a check next to item 2: Advanced System Investigation
  • Click Execute selected scripts
  • At the next prompt, click the OK button
  • Let the scan run and click "OK" when the completion prompt pops up
  • Now Close out of the Standard Scripts window, and exit AVZ
  • Navigate to the avz4 folder and locate the folder LOG
  • Inside the LOG folder you will find virusinfo_syscheck.htm and virusinfo_syscheck.zip
  • Attach virusinfo_syscheck.zip to your next reply, along with a fresh HijackThis log

Thanks

Hi

thanks for being patience with me as I still have my L plates on.

No problem.

Close all windows then double click on AVZ.exe
  • Click File > Custom scripts
  • Copy & paste the contents of the following codebox in the box in the program
  • Do Not copy the word CODE

    begin
    SearchRootkit(true, true);
    SetAVZGuardStatus(True);
     DelBHO('{1c1b2b14-a6e2-1407-fe62-d5229eeb7144}');
     BC_DeleteFile('C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsd23.dll');
     BC_DeleteFile('C:\Program Files\ErrorSweeper\ErrorSweeper.exe');
    BC_ImportDeletedList;
    ExecuteSysClean;
    BC_Activate;
    RebootWindows(true);

  • Note: When you run the script, your PC will be restarted
  • Click Run
  • Restart your PC if it doesn't do it automatically,

I can't find any reason for combofix not running. Please ensure you have disabled your security programs as follows. Then try to run combofix again.

F-SECURE ANTIVIRUS
  • Please navigate to the system tray on the bottom right hand corner and look for a blue 📎fsecure.png sign.
  • right click it-> select Unload.
  • The F-Secure sign should now be surrounded by a red striked through circle (looking like this: 📎fsecure_disabled.png )
  • You successfully disabled the F-Secure Guard.

F-Secure Internet Security Suite
  • Please navigate to the system tray on the bottom right hand corner and look for a blue 📎fsecure.png sign.
  • Right click it-> select Unload.
  • Select: "Unload and allow all network traffic"
  • Select Unload to confirm deactivation of F-Secure Internet Security
  • You will be asked to enter your Parental Control Password. Please enter it and click "OK."
  • The F-Secure sign should now be surrounded by a red striked through circle (looking like this: 📎fsecure_disabled.png )
  • You succesfully disabled the F-Secure Guard.

Let me know how you make out and post the combofix log and a new HJT log in your next reply.
