Each time i try to run a program that uses nv_disp; the pixels will mess up and ill the computer will crash.
It triggers when im unzipping files to certain destinations, or in games such as Warcraft3.
My computer speed and net surfing speed have significantly dropped as well.
Im using AVG free.

Pc's pretty old; i understand that my hardware would be causing my pc to be slower; but i dont think its so bad.

I've been using this pc for awhile; and solved (on the surface, maybe) several viruses that infected my pc in the past; unsure if there are still remnants of it; this is my log.

Also; prior to this crashing; my system has been running with high memory usage, about 60kb. Disabling audio will significantly boost gaming performance; was wondering about that, too. I tried system recovery but the solution was temporary. After 2 or 3 recovers, it fails to solve the problem anymore. (On going problem)

Any help with this is appreciated

Hi nekosake,

:welcome:

My name is Tomk. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Then

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot (shut down your computer then restart it).
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hello and thank you for your help Tomk.

My pc is currently booting up much slower, as if it isnt using the ram properly.
Sometimes my computer just freezes and there are lines and pixels (usually blue or yellow) all over the screen in certain areas.
I am unable to launch certain 3d based games such as warcraft, it will crash within 0~4mins of loading the in-game graphics.
The BSOD (usually no bsod, though), shows an error with nv4_disp.
I dont seem to hang consistantly with games like lineage 2.
Under Task Manager, System appear to use 50k memory. It reduces after/when i boot lineage 2 for some reason.
System have been taking high Memory since about 3weeks ago. Initially, system restore solves it but the problem came back soom after.

I suspect the ram, graphic card or motherboard might be faulty, but i haven't had the resources to check them. I'm also using a nvidia 5700ve graphics card. I have tried reinstalling drivers for the graphic card but the problem still occurs (didn't even help in fact).

I'm using AVG anti virus Free, and after scans it shows my pc as clean.

nekosake,

Sounds like a graphics card problem to me. Let's do a little more cleanup, and then I'll probably send you to the Tech Team.

Your Java is out of date and you have other old versions still on your computer, those old versions are now a security vulnerability:

Please download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder
  • Run JavaRa.exe, pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
  • Accept any prompts.
  • Open JavaRa.exe again and select Search For Updates.
  • Select Update Using Sun Java's Website then click Search and click on the Open Webpage button. Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version for your computer - Version 6 update 12

  • Please open HijackThis and run Do a system scan only
  • Check the boxes next to ONLY the entries listed below(if present):
    • O2 - BHO: WebDetectorBHO - {43BEAFD9-E005-483D-A367-146BA6C8A32E} - C:\Program Files\Tudou\·EEUTudou\tudouDetector.dll (file missing)

  • Close all programs except for HijackThis.
  • Click on Fix checked
  • A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES.
  • Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

Download Rooter.exe to your desktop

  • Then doubleclick it to start the tool
  • A Notepad file containing the report will open, also found at %systemdrive%\Rooter.txt. Post that here

And then please give me a new HijackThis log.
Thanks again Tomk, below are the logs.

Tomk, I did the first step, it deleted some files and closed itself automatically. However, im unsure of how to install the new version. After i download it using Sun Client, when i tried to run the application it states that jre-6u12-windows-x64-p.exe is not a valid win32 application.
Tomk,

i ran the JavaRa to remove the older versions, but it didnt seem to be deleting files, as it did the first time i ran it.

Anyhow, my HJT log is as follows

nekosake,

That's kind of weird. Still shows you running an out of date version of Java. Let's try this manually.

  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button and follow the onscreen instructions for the Java uninstaller.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u12-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Tomk,

i did as u suggested, and i uninstalled Java updates 3,5 and 11 via the add/remove programs function.

the log is as follows
