No it still appears to stall. I just tried your updated version and again, it just stops working though how long should it run for? 20 minutes? 1 hour? 2 hours? The ComboFix window remains open and says something about it running for 10 minutes but doubling in time if the PC is badly infected. At the moment its still running on the PC but its been running now for 1.5 hours. I think it stalls at the point where its supposed to reboot.
Hi Meiko

your infection is deep on the system

NEXT:
Make sure Internet Explorer isn't open

Run hijackthis again. Hit None of the above,
Click Do a System Scan Only.
Put a Check in the box on the left side on these: (Not to worry if not there)

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\twex.exe,
O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\system32\hs78344kjkfd.dll - {C5BF49A2-94F3-42BD-F434-3604812C8955} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hs78344kjkfd.dll

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\figinuli.dll

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click []b]Fix checked
Then reboot

NEXT:
After reboot

Delete the files in RED>>not to worry if not there.
C:\WINDOWS\services.exe >>JUST THE FILE NOT THE FOLDER

NEXT:
1. Please open Notepad
Click Start , then Run
Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:
Rootkit::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\figinuli.dll

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.

5. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.
[external image: Posted Image]
Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

6. ComboFix will automatically REBOOT your machine when the KillAll:: switch is used..

7. Next, re-enable all the programs that you disabled prior to running ComboFix.
CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

8. Post the following logs/Reports:

Hi

We are making progress now most of the baddies are gone just a few more steps and your home free.

LETS TRY THIS AGAIN

NEXT:
1. Please open Notepad
Click Start , then Run
Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

Don't copy the word CODE

KillAll::

File::
c:\windows\system32\uacinit.dll
C:\khq
c:\windows\unvise32.exe
c:\windows\system32\figinuli.dll

Folders::
c:\documents and settings\Mei\Application Data\cogad
C:\161535157

Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

NOTICE
the ""are back thats okay now

ComboFix.txt
Fresh HijackThis log

Please let me know how your PC is acting now.

good luk mschroe919

Folders:: >>>>should not be folders>>I droped the s below to make it Folder
c:\documents and settings\Mei\Application Data\cogad
C:\161535157

It should be

KillAll::

File::
c:\windows\system32\uacinit.dll
C:\khq
c:\windows\unvise32.exe
c:\windows\system32\figinuli.dll

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Okay, I've switched it on again and reconnected it to my router which my laptop is also connected too (sharing internet not network). In the first instance, the USB link did not light up and although the computer said it was connected, I only received error pages when running Firefox or Opera. I then tried to unplug the usb stick (safely remove) that I used to transport the log files from my desktop to my laptop and it not only stopped responding but my desktop disappeared (only Windows Task Manager would runj). After rebooting again, the USB link indicator on my router lit up but I still have no internet connection, even though my ethernet cable connected to the same router is able to connect on the internet. I've had both usb and ethernet cables running simultaneously before (with the ethernet cable connected to Xbox 360) so I'm not sure if the virus has removed something to prevent connection or perhaps something's been cleared out from the settings used to connect the desktop??

I haven't tried running any programs yet though when the infection first took place I hadn't been running any programs anyway, just three different browsers.

Below is a fresh HJT log. I notice in the log that avg is listed - I uninstalled that just before posting up my help request here on the boards because it seemed to load itself about 10 times onto the system and I was concerned the program itself was infected? I managed to get avast installed in its place as an anti-virus program but avg still seems to appear in the log below. I don't know if it is anything or if its just something left over after I'd uninstalled the program.

mschroe919
HI Meiko Lets try this : Take the cable going to your PC, out of the router and hook it direct into the cable/dsl modem See if your fire fox works now. if not does it give any code numbers? Try connecting to inter net this way with both IE and Firefox. Let me know what happens. mschroe919
Nope still no connection. I have a feeling its being blocked somehow though it shouldn't be the anti-virus programs etc.

Anyway in switching on the computer today that little pop-up message reappeared, the one that appears just after the windows logo and before the system loads. Most of it is unreadable, just symbols however it did have part of a directory listed in the menu bar - starts out with some weird symbols then this is after the symbols: windows\system32\drivers\dxg.sys which is the dx graphics driver. I don't know why that appeared. After clicking ok to make the pop-up disappear, windows loads and an error message appeared for the first time:

"Logitech Desktop messenger is unable to access its data directory. It is either invalid or unreachable, or there is another program accessing it."
