1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger.zip
Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Copy/paste the below into the Input Script Here and select Execute

Files to delete:
C:\DOCUME~1\KIMBER~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\TEMPOR~1\Content.IE5\YFBNJKBM.SH!
C:\DOCUME~1\KIMBER~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\TEMPOR~1\Content.IE5\UTCJKDGT.SH!
C:\DOCUME~1\KIMBER~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\TEMPOR~1\Content.IE5\S5UV0LIB.SH!

C:\DOCUME~1\KIMBER~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\TEMPOR~1\Content.IE5\BP4KSFJR.SH!

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.
The Avenger will automatically do the following:
It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

"copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

My computer seems to be running faster than it has in a very long time. I still can't open McAfee ..

Sorry I don't know what McAfes problem is. You could try uninstalling it and re-install if you have the program CD. If not, try their help site.

If you do the uninstall, make sure you unplug your internet connection until it's re-installed.

Do this before anything else.

Good job

The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

    • [external image: Posted Image]

To be on the safe side, I would also change all my passwords.

Here's my usual all clean post

    Log looks good :D

    • Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
      • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
      • Click once on the Security tab
      • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
      • Click once on the Custom Level button.
      • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week
(Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer.
Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over.
I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients.
Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site
until there are no more critical updates.

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly.
Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?

:wavey: McAfee is reinstalled and fixed, My computer is running much faster. Thank You Very Much for your help… I obviously wouldn't have been able to do it on my own.. lol Now.. I did the last cleanup procedure and changed some security settings … I still have all the programs on my desktop (avenger, atf cleanup, malwarebytes etc).. do I need to keep these?

You can if you want. I would keep ATF and Malwarebytes. Run them once a week.

Great job
