to delete multiple files just hold down the ctrl key and click on all the files you want to delete then when all the files you want to delete have been clicked on release the ctrl key and hold down the shift key and press the delete key.

that should delete all the files if i'm not mistaken.

this link shows a few ways to delete multiple files. :- https://www.pcworld....iple-files.html

I'll check back to see if there's anything from juliet

Question is:

How is the computer now?, are there any alerts from your antivirus?

It's possible the problem was internal,  but,  if you think it necessary we can download tools and check to see if there is malware on your computer.

The PC is fine now.  No popups about low disk space, no popup about paging file size, I can download and everything is behaving normally.

I am ready to delete the entire contents of the Logs folder in window, except for a dozen of the most recent files, along with one called "filter" and another called "deep clean."

My Windows Defender and Avira AV are updated, now to re-install Malwarebytes.

If we are finished please post that with any final suggestions and I'm out with many thanks to the team here.  This group always comes through.

I've got to let the gentlemen answer that cause I really don't know that much about what they had you do to get your computer in better working order.

My apologies to you all for "disappearing!

Unfortunately I was called away on a matter of urgency, and was without an internet connection, and for all practical purposes, incommuncicado.

@paultpa I was so pleased that you have resolved the issue, but do keep your Win 7 repair/installation discs handy and also make sure that your Gateway Repair discs are servicable and in a known safe location, then in the event of trouble arising at some time in the future you will be able to reinstall your operating system in less time than it takes to walk the dog!

@Juliet, Many thanks for keeping a watching brief, your expertise on matters malware related is always valued greatly and appreciated by all of us.

@ Terry, Very many thanks Terry for stepping into the breach I created by my absence. Your expertise and professionalism and the resoulution you achieved was ( as always) first class.

It was great to see you back again on the forum Terry,.. you have been sorely missed, by all of us here.

Regards  to all
