im not sure if im in the right forum, but when i try to restart my computer, it goes through the option to start in normal or safe modes, then no matter what mode i start in, it goes to the windows loading page, then my system shuts off. it does this repeatedly but eventually submits and starts up. i did get a blue screen warning me about bio memory or something to that affect... i am a dummy when it comes to the whole memory thing, so if anyone can help me figure out what is wrong with my system, i would be most appreciative.

Such issues are very hard to deal with, because there are few places to start without more info, and you can't give more because of the situation, so it's a tricky one, if you could catch the full error of the blue screen it would help as the codes can often help in diagnosis, but while waiting on that a couple of thoughts\questions, while the system is booting tap the Del key at 1 second intervals to enter the bios, you will need to take care while in here, but don't panic follow the instructions I give and all will be well.

To begin you will need to use the arrow keys to move around while in here, some items in the menu will containing sub menu's, highlight the main menu then hit the enter key, this will enter the sub menu, repeat as needed to enter further sub menu's, there may be 3 or 4 follow on from the main one, to come out of each sub menu hit the Esc key, 1 press = going back 1 screen, now with this info I need you to move around in there and look for the System Health section, I would like to know the temperature it shows of possible, not all systems have this, if you can't find it tell me the make\model of your system and I will try and see what you have in the bios.
Now this is the most important part of these instructions, do NOT save when you exit the bios, this means no matter what you may have done in there nothing will change, so you have no worried about "if" you had upset anything in there, just navigate to the exit without saving option and all will be well.

Next get and run MemTest (Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip) near the bottom of the page), you will need to download it on a working system and burn it too disk (extract the zip file and burn the contents to a disk), then put it in the troubled system and boot to the optical drive, then run the test, leave it running for a few hours initially, but report back with an update as to it's findings before stopping it as it may be worth letting it run a bit longer, now if it reports errors then we have found your issue, at least one of them, it's possible other things may be in need of attention still, but it's a good first step to seeing whats going on.
Should you require further help with any of this feel free to ask.
