Just posting this for some peace of mind. I downloaded the free scan version of Spy Sweeper last week and ran it a handful of times with no detections. This morning, however, on a whim I ran in safe mode and it did detect trojan.gen in the file C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download......rtmgdr\urlmon.dll, with the notice "This is a generic detection for a suspicious piece of software". It then suggested I subscribe to the pay version of Spy Sweeper so I can quarantine the bugger. Subsequent scans with Avira Antivir and SuperAntispyware, plus online scans with BitDefender, Kaspersky, Panda Activescan, and TrendMicro Housecall have made no detections (interestingly, I ran the Panda scan after re-running Spy Sweeper in regular mode - it still showed the trojan - and as Panda looked at the rtmgdr\urlmon.dll file Spy Sweeper leapt up to alert me that a potentially unwanted program was trying to access the file system, and repeated that I ought to either subscribe or consider deleting the infected file). Finally, checking out this site I read about Jotti's Malware Scan and checked the ...rtmgdr\urlmon.dll file out there, with no detection. Anyway, I thought I'd run it by you folks to see if it a false positive or something I should investigate further. HJT log for the heck of it: ps. I see iexplorer is listed under Running Processes, which is odd because I didn't have it running when I ran HJT. Thanks for any help you can provide.
