i have a win xp computer that recently had anew hard drive installed. after installing all new programs afresh i found it was running way too slow. i have NOD32 a/v and have been running regular system scans and get clean results, clean internet cache etc and disk defragment but nothing works to speed it up.....i'm no computer expert and feel realy supid now ( and going on holiday tomorrow and cleverly thought I would resolve the computer issue before going away - but now I'm so worrid I cna't even pack! - I use htis cmputer for my work as well ).......I diagnsed ( wrongly or rightly) that th eroblem was he new IE8 slowing down my system. Tried to uninstall but no option to uninstal, did a net serach and read somehwere that i need to first uninstal win sp3, then u cn get the option to uninstal ie8, then reinstal winsp3. So I uninstalled sp3 and then tried to uninstal ie8 but now everyhting is frozen ! Nohting works. No internet. Nohting. Nothing responds. Can't even shut down - ahve to switch off at the base unit....dont kknow if this has anythign to do with it but yesterday sm1 tried to send me a worm vius which my nod32 a/v picked up an i didn't open it just dleted it...but now wondering i that might have got nto the sytem somehow(?). did run virus scan last night and all was clean.

now no internet connection at all - tried switching on and off/taking all wires and plugs out but doens't work.; i'm posting this from my laptop which is another computer

then freezes up

i'm totally at a loss - i'm panicing to be honest and this is all i can think about and i ned to get packing ( for a fmaily of 4 !!)...can anyone help me.....please???

i can't connect to internet either - was going to try to instal updates/sp3 again - but i'm getting no connectivity message showing even through everyhting is switched on...

i get a message saying
limited or no connectivity (BT broadband by the way)
the network did not assign a network address to te computer
windows cannot repair this/did not repair this because this action cannot be completed :
renewing the ipp address

then I get NT shut down - time after time, or else it all freezes up

i'm really so deperate for help-please !!!
