My virus problem started with Antivirus 2008. I've used everything from Mcafee to Malwarebytes to Ad-Aware to SUPERAntispyware. The computer looks clean and none of the programs are finding anything currently except for Malwarebytes. EVERY time i run it, it finds the same two files:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\minibugtransporter.minibugtransporterx.1
and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\minibugtransporter.minibugtransporterx

I remove them and even if I run the program directly afterwards, it finds those two programs again.
Also since the virus hit, a weird red icon shows up at the bottom of the screen, where the programs are, called SprtClientInterface. I exit it and I've tried to find the program to delete it but it seems almost non-existant.
The computer is running normally again, I'm just concerned about the magical reappearing files
PLEASE HELP

I also just tried to uninstall my version of Java to put the newer one on and was told that a fatal error occured during installation and it wouldn't let me continue

Hello Megamuffin

Welcome to the Whatthetech Malware Removal Forum,

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\minibugtransporter.minibugtransporterx.1
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\minibugtransporter.minibugtransporterx
<---These are related to Weatherbug

Download Trendmicros Hijackthis to your desktop.
  • Double click it to install
  • Follow the prompts and by default it will install in C:\Program Files\Trendmicro\Hijackthis\Highjackthis.exe
  • Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
  • Go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is Unchecked
  • Go to Edit> Select All.....Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by using the Post Reply and not start a New Thread.

DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hello,

You may want to print this out to follow along as you will be offline for part of the fix. You have a backdoor trojan that can be letting more of this garbage in

Do this first...Important

Disable the TeaTimer, leave it disabled until we're done or it will prevent fixes from taking

  • Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
  • If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
  • On the left hand side, Click on Tools
  • Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
  • Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
  • Restart your computer.<--You need to do this for it to take effect

Please do not proceed until the TeaTimer is disabled

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://207.188.7.150/12c6d439d0a2a6722e18/netzip/RdxIE2.cab

O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {d02d2bc8-92de-444f-8016-d64426302ecc} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msziptools.dll

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

CODE
:Files
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msziptools.dll

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.<-- Don't forget this
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

I need to see the OTMoveIt log, the Malwarebytes log and a new HJT log please
Go to the top of the page

Good Morning,

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
  • See this Link for programs that need to be disabled and instruction on how to disable them.
  • Remember to re-enable them when we're done.

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Good Morning,

Good Job thumbup.gif A couple of points to go over.

I see RegCure installed, I have been around computers since Windows 3.1 and have never had any use for Registry Cleaners and the forums do not recommend them, even the known legit ones at times can remove the wrong entry or entries. If it runs ok and removes things you will not see a difference in performance, if it runs and removes the wrong entry you can disable your system , I would uninstall it via the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

You need to update your Java

  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:

    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 10 <--This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

You also need to update your Operating System
You need to install Service Pack 3, open IE and go to Tools> Windows Updates and install any Critical Updates , then make sure you install Service Pack 3.

Everything else looks fine thumbup.gif How are things running now??
